My Canon SX220 is approximately 215 g in weight, and it is maintained properly, because nothing after. The cushioning effect of the camera will probably be on all (cheap) tripods so, there's a self-timer. The ring, which is designed to prevent accidental loosening of the stand, I'm a little too easy, that could go more stringent. But one kannn the tripod but quickly pulled off the camera, if necessary. The mounted tripod prevents the opening of the battery compartment of the camera, but that's a problem of the camera design.
