Having for years Brother inkjet MFC devices in my (and other) Home Office (s) used, here the first time a
Color laser multifunction printer with scanner and fax.
First of all:
Of course you can compare both categories (Ink / Laser) not directly.
Even the size of most color laser are "home" rather severe square Pugs, inkjet printer rather compact and lightweight.
For HP, I decided due to the various functions and performance functionality at a low price.
On the market there was the time of purchase actually only 3 real alternatives, the HP seemed to be the best.
Advantages of a "MUFU" (Multifunction) - laser printer in my view are:
- Ink does not dry up (What means in the Brothern actually seldom occurred)
- Smear (Field Service)
Disadvantage:
- Toner (with lower priced units) quite expensive, therefore only interesting if you really very rare prints
- Heavy and large, design is mostly functional
- Emissions (premises where laser printers are generally should be well ventilated, bedrooms, children's rooms, etc. should be avoided)
Installation and commissioning
I have the HP shipped in a 60cm wide shelf, and there "extended forward" a shelf at the hardware store by. To clean stand on a shelf
and also some air around it to have, about 50x50 footprint should already be taken into consideration. As I have 60cm height to the overlying shelf
planned, so that you still can not open the scanner lid when needed. (Possibly would also less rich when the scanner / copier Pad
uses rare.
Construction was by and large - as described in the Quick Start Guide - easy. Man (n) should possibly have a second man on board, a flyweight
is not the printer. (For this, he is then also clean, no matter what you do for mechanical work on the printer)
So the general commissioning went ahead without difficulty. The basic parameters can be entered via the beautiful touch screen, everything else would I
it later via the web frontend (website) of the printer.
Configuration:
If you get used to time the HP website configuration via LAN / WLAN:
Pretty simple - at least for someone who can configure his Fritzbox via Web.
Generally, quite a lot of configurable power management options are also quite appealing.
My application looks like this:
"Only" activate Turn after 8 hours "non-use" of the printer to "standby" and let yourself again on the power button on the front -. (Saves electricity).
(Of course you can also set the power save options so that he wakes up when a fax comes, you start to print, etc.)
- Receives faxes me the Fritz box and sends me this also automatically Tell someone where I view the fax, archive or which otherwise
further process (print) can. As a backup solution I can if necessary switch the Fritz box and receive faxes as usual in paper form. (But what I have been
Years no longer do)
- Paperless Office - All documents are scanned on the scanner and either by pressing a button on my e-mail address or alternatively a network drive
placed. (You can configure the HP or via the web front end)
(Here is also the Fritz box my "Map Network Drive". So many duplicate copies and reasonably archiving has so also accounts for the same a
odentliches document management.
Now you could still many small home office received details, but now back to the printer.
- He does not print quickly, (but faster than my previous inkjet printers) but steadily (What at low pressure levels is absolutely fine)
- The Scan function pad and sheet feeder is fine.
(Mechanical sound scanning something cheap (plastic) functionality is absolutely OK sometimes the bypass tray could move a little straighter.
- Send and receive faxes absolutely flawlessly, even journaling functionality.
(In my user scenario I would have liked to have the option - go immediately ran at call (Minimal adjustable: 2 rings before fax rangeht).
- Printouts are really good, even pictures can be seen, of course, you should not expect photo quality here)
- Short test with pressure on Apple IOS (iPad / iPhone) also works flawlessly, Android and Windows Phone 8 I have not yet tested.
My conclusion is:
If you have space and the look not to contradict one really is not much prints (so 100 pages per month) will be certainly a lot of pleasure with the device
have.
I have the "NW" device taken what the "N" stands for Netwerk and the "W" for Wireless LAN. The WLAN functionality I need not currently, but possibly later times, when I have no more home office and no longer need fax (fax line). Then I can the printer sometimes connect via WLAN and put in the storeroom. (Currently I have connected it via LAN cable, because the Fritz box and the phone line is installed above)
I have not done the way the driver installation on the CD but the "minimal" driver package downloaded from the Internet from the HP website. This has saved me so a few "additional programs" that are rarely used anyway.
I would buy the device or the successor with the same performance again, maybe it was then again a more pleasing color.
(Like its predecessor). For the money, but you can not go wrong - except: too much print.
