Moin dear reader review, I ordered this product because I've read a lot of positive about it. Today (or actually yesterday :)) arrived there and I've been looking forward like a Cheshire cat. When unpacking the quality of hard-anodized aluminum housing I immediately noticed The only plastic which can be seen from the outside is the Icy Box Logo and back at the terminals and in securing the lid bottom of the device. To remove the system cover the front I was convinced ebenfals. Well then. I have my external USB 2.0 drive disassembled and read in the instructions that you have to reformat the disk. So first all data on the External by my brother up packed (300GB data on USB 2.0 Copy is not fun, believe me: D). Then I have the hard disk should the purely built Formats (well my USB 3.0 driver has a little but rumgemeckert for the box can not). Currently I have I can, therefore, only one disk in the device not to RAID 0 and RAID 1 mode but say in JBOD mode with a plate in the shaft A I am completely at peace until the disk is full. mainly I've bought the machine because I have a notebook and accordingly no place for 2 External disks (if a disk is full must further ago) Totaly I have 5 USB ports including 2 USB 3.0. In any case, the transfer rate more than doubled (USB 2.0 R / W ~ 30MB / s USB 3.0 R / W ~ 84Mb / s benchmark data see below) The plate is now in there works a WDC WD10 EADS 00L5B1 I could well imagine that the whole is even faster but I think the board is too old. What I find most brilliant of the Icy Box is the power saving mode. If the plate is not used for a certain time, the box the plate switches off and Cached the root directory. As soon as one goes in to a folder, it switches the drive back on. Very good thinking. This not only protects the environment but also the life of the plates. Finally, what about the supposedly loud fan: I feel the as pretty quiet. My gaming notebook is at least in that Summer in idle mode louder than the plate or both are equally loud / quiet (depending on how you feel it) I gamble for the headset Logitech G930 used and this about 98% of my time on the PC aufhabe bother me a bit noisier fan sowiso not so hot. (And when you consider that my "old" External Buffalo where I reusgenommen the plate was not at all chilled and had no power saving mode I think that protects the life of the plates ebenfals if they are not so warm)
Gesammmtergebniss of the first day: recommended Top unit and each seeking something good for cheap money. If me Later notice something negative, I'll add this

Addendum 19.08.2013: I now need data from one of my old SATA 2.5 "drives Backup Since I have the IcyBox still operate in the JBOD I 2.5." Just plug plate into the open slot and lo and behold it went. One must not only have great hands then you get also 2.5 "disks with the device operated. However, the 2.5 should" drive does not remain in the housing when the IcyBox to be great changed or somewhere with accepted, then on the basis of vibrations and lack may break the grip SATA connector.
