Since the early 80's people are born with exceptional abilities, about 1 in 100. The Gifted, abnorms, brilliants, as they are called in English. There, as everywhere, are the good and the bad among them, the rest of the normal world feels threatened and calls, an agency to watch the whole thing and keep it under control.
Nick Cooper can read the language of the body and thus, for example, the next step or shock or whatever foresee his counterpart. He is the best man of the Agency and a strong personality. He believes in what he does and is convinced to protect his country, even if he has to kill for it. On the hunt for a dangerous terrorist from the series of Gifteds, he determined undercover and comes across unexpected complications, thereby develops a new way of seeing things and thinking about his beliefs. He loves his children, fighting for their carefree future, strives for truth and assumes all possible dangers to themselves. He's just the sympathetic hero of the story.
Despite differentiated theme that certainly allows certain parallels to reality, has been able to create the author a nice round history. Human fears and action backgrounds describes subtle and made clear without accusations or rigid morality. In my eyes it is a difficult task that has mastered well the author.
The only complaint: the story is a little too long. One could certainly cut by more than 100 pages, without having to lose its tension. In the first half of my motivation was put to the test before, but I have read the second half of the book almost in one piece.
All in all a recommended book, which picks up interesting questions and perspectives. Although it seems self-contained, there should be a continuation after the announcement of the author.
