1. On the photo scans distinct stripes were visible in the colored boxes by scanning in the magnification.
2. The quality of the scanned files has from 1200 dpi not visibly improved for me. Between 600dpi and 1200dpi is a slight improvement in the enlargement still recognizable. In all, more than 1200dpi has worked for me only the file size changes, but unfortunately no longer the scan result. Although I can see more details in the template pictures with a magnifying glass, it does not create the scanner to report them accurately or sharper.
Apart from these qualitative deficiencies as a photo scanner, there are also positive to report:
The HP Scanjet 300
1. Space-saving and easy. The cover is light and easy to use (that's probably not in the scanners with transparency unit for example, the case)
2. softly when scanning
3. absolute low in energy consumption
For scanning / archiving of documents, I would take the scanner at any time and recommend but not for photos in which I would like to receive the presentation quality. Customised to mention is the low power consumption. It does not require a separate power cord. The power consumption is done via the USB cable.
