I am listening!

So I belong then probably the first group, since there appears to be no group "Halbgöttisch" are. Only for besserene assessment: I am 40+ and my old pair of headphones is a 20 year old AKG K280 Parabolic who has always served me faithfully. I use headphones for movies and music, from time to time even for a game on PC. To put it short and sweet: the DT-990 Pro has my old AKG Ohrenwärmer outclassed quite simply. Just like that, in passing, without any fuss.
The bass is so much more precise, while simultaneously more powerful and crisp, the mids are enjoyable and the heights I find easy but emphasized not sharp or annoying (hence the mention of my age, maybe younger ears perceive it differently). In short, I like the sound, even though I had to get used to the powerful bass first.

Here the assessment include:

Positive

+ Wears heavenly, even for hours. For me absolutely nothing pushes, the temple sits not too tight and the headset is always on the spot. I forget sometimes actually that I aufhabe him at all.
+ Very nice bass, punchy and energetic but not wummernd and vermatscht.
+ The restrained or neutral centers leave the voices or instruments not twang so or quack, which can be annoying in the long run.
+ Yes, I also find the heights succeeded. Very present, but never pointed or hissing. The problems with the lisping s or z I can not confirm, or at least not more than other headphones in a direct comparison.
+ The short spiral cable is very handy if you sit close to the device. From a distance of 2.5 m of cable and train on the left ear begins to interfere.
+ Super-comfort due to the puscheligen Flauschi earpads.
+ Semi-open headphones ensures ventilation and airy sound. Is determined quite noisy for other people in the room, and vice versa one is not so shielded from the environment. I like this.
+ Conveniently, the cable plug to 3.5mm Kline plus a 6.3mm adapter. I know enough of headphones that have only 6.3 mm plug.
+ For the price of 150 I've ever seen anything quite like it. All headphones that can be dangerous to the 990 Pro really are, in my opinion clearly beyond the 200-mark.

Negative

- In particularly bass-heavy music or films it is sometime too much with the bass. But this may also be because already the image is too bass emphasized.
- For people with particularly wide head of the DT 990 could sit possible way too tight. The adjustment should be sufficient for most adults, however.
- Bad shots are revealed as just that. I can not listen to MP3s with 128 kbit or more so to me it - simply gruesome.
- The headset may not be as cool if you aufhat him in the subway. Clearly more at home, the device for the couch.

Unfortunately I can not make the comparison with the normal DT-990, but I can not imagine that it's worth the extra cost to me. For impedance and volume, I can only say that he could play on any device so far louder than the audiologist allowed. And he sounds always more scary good! I have certainly not regretted second to have bought the cheaper per-execution.

Overall rating:

Excellent! I would buy it immediately. But you have to cope with the powerful bass and also get used to it first. After the Beyerdynamic DT-990 will probably appreciate Pro most subjects as great headset that is his money worth.

Update after nearly two years:
I am with the sound quality still very happy and also the 5 Star remain unchanged. After many many hours using the fluffy cushions begin to lose some of their fluffiness - but they are now getting a bit greasy. I wonder if you can settle the upholstery and wash somehow ....?
I also think that the foam has lost in the cushions something to clamping force, and thus the headphone sits no longer so firmly on the head. That is so far still far from being a problem.

Otherwise, I have now tried the headset to a variety of playback devices, including laptops, televisions, micro stereos, tablets, MP3 players and smartphones. Always the sound was good or even very good. The volume is usually sufficient to ears blow up into Nirvana, but weaknesses of the source player to be mercilessly exposed. This noisy radio drops to a low plant or a smartphone ever gone.

UPDATE after 2.5 years (Feb 2015)

Meanwhile, I have washed the pad. The time was urgently needed! However, was not easy, the pad into one photo again on the earcups. Now the pad feel again beautifully fluffy, but they have strange in places yellowish discoloration (No, this is not to wax!) That are not going away in the wash. My theory is that the material has been discolored by sunlight. Aside from the unattractive appearance but this has no effect. The remaining mechanical and electrical systems is also faultless, and I'm still happy with the DT-990 Pro.
