Of course, this book here demands quite good English skills (some vocabulary one can but also in the English dictionary look, if you do not know even a word)!
So far I have worked my way through the preface and 2 Pre-Lessons, but of course I looked at the book immediately after receipt. It's really super built up and the learning concept is perfect for self-study, as you once the Hiragana learning. The Romaji are piece by piece by the newly learned Hiragana chapter replaced (eg in Lesson 1 then a, i, u, e, o).
The Pre-Lessons deal with basics such as the pronunciation and the figures smaller and small-talk records that have little to do with grammar. This then comes from the Lesson. 1
I still use also in the early chapters the website YesJapan because you can listen to a few words there, which is very convenient, especially for the beginning of course.
Get me also determine the further books, but once work through this one.
For a serious self-study of the language thoroughly recommended! I'm very happy with my choice.
