- E-books, he should of course be able to process even pdf files
- Color he must be able to represent, as I read many larger PDF files in which color elements are shown
- Listening to music while reading? That would be great
- Images? Yeah, if he can paint already, then images
- Internet? I do not need, so no tablet
- Battery life? When I read already 8 or more hours at a time (entirely without a break, I mean)?
- WIFI? Does not have to have a PC, have a notebook and a netbook (which is why I will not tablet); USB cable is ok.
- Space? PDF files and e-books? The do not need much. Music either. Photos? The already, but I want only times one or the other draufziehen.
That's them, my decision criteria and quite by chance I see at an electronics wholesale TrekStor 3.0 (have still bought at Amazon, because that is simply awesome). The price surprised me. Good 50 euros. Can hardly be, but is so. Everything is important to me, can the part. Now to a few points:
Battery life
So far zero problems. Either I charge via USB cable to the PC or directly through the outlet. A corresponding charger has one of its Ziggis, the other had been at it a medical device, like me. Is it possible if need be to buy. How long does the battery last? I have not been exhausted him. So I do not know, but after the previous charging indicator must be loose inside 8 hours in the not too bright lighting of course.
Display
Color is quite nice, that can not e-Ink. Images are ok, PDF files, e-books as well. Pictures are of course not brilliant represented, because of the display, but it is not nunmal Tablet. Pictures he is supposed only option can. When the sun shines, the brightness of the display direction is set maximum. I have managed to hold it directly in the sun, so that they be so reflected that I can not read anything more. But who does that? In the read darkness also works. Here is a drawback: the brightness point I quite dark, with black text and white background (to me in total darkness a brighter level is already too bright), the display begins to flicker. BUT: I will not do because black background and yellow font are very very pleasing to the eye.
Service
The menu is used to, but again: Who reads books, need rarely to the menu and the display settings are simple. Negative here is that the keys are completely unlit. That makes it hard to operate in complete darkness. The pressure points are bad. Here you can quickly press wrong. That's been my view the only downside.
The automatic image rotation may interfere with the reading in bed ever, if one is wrong and twisted his arms. But then one is rare and the automatic image rotation may be disabled. So is it a drama.
He swallows a found by chance in an old mobile phone 2GB MicroSD card with no problems. Oh, there were still top images. How nice. So here, too: all the best.
Another advantage over E-Ink: The trying out of my e-ink readers are sooo laaangsaaam ... Is indeed in books rarely a criterion, but with PDF files already.
There are only two ways to get data on this reader. Via USB cable or via micro SD card, which is then pre-loaded on a reader from a PC. One finds the awkward; I do not care, because often I read so quickly and thoughtlessly, that I should move to the new data unit after a short time.
When you see the price, the valuation is clear. Only the unlit buttons with poor pressure point fall on negative, but that's a little thing that does not lead to deduction of points.
Plaintext: Anyone looking for a way to be able to read an e-book and satisfied with 7 inches, which is well served here.
