Dragon Age: Inquisition (computer game)

Customer Review

As an old fan of Dragon Age: "Origin", which I along with add-on have loved to play and extensively, I have of course "Inquisition" eagerly awaited. Because of the bad reviews of the second part, I have never played this, and can therefore only draw comparisons to the 1st part.

The most important right: The game is good and can be safely recommended for RPG fans. The game world is graphically beautifully done for a role playing game and the previous areas (about 15 hours of play), I could visit (Tutorial, Haven, hinterland), are very deteailreich. Since you can only awarded top marks. The setting and story is - at least so far - wirktlich great. The Zwischenswquenzen and dialogues are at very high levels. Technically the game seems to be in pretty good shot. Bugs I've hardly noticed. In the background I had trouble landing submit two dissolved quests at quest giver. But I am not sure if I forget something or if the game is there really had a misfire. It stands out for me from just that the individual areas therefore come up with a massive abundance of quests and therefore there are a lot to do. Various reports speak of more than 90 hours of play time ... according to my previous experience, I can attest to that, as long as things continue as before. Therefore, price / performance is all in all, fully in order.

Nevertheless, I have for me "only" 3 stars given. Why? Really I can not justify it. It's more of a gut feeling. Despite the positive aspects previously mentioned, I'm not 100% with the game warm. Was I in Origin of the story still shackled like the movies and could not wait, how it goes, I'm jaded here apparently something. Despite the great dialogues / setting / story of the "epic" spark will not jump over easily. Yes, I play it, it's fun but I did not feel the need to play it endlessly without pause. That was still the case with Origin.

This is mainly around the drum. The Skills menu is me personally just too sterile. As a role-playing game - Fan is for me not only a great designed game world to, but also a Character menu is the atmosphere of the game justice. This is in my opinion not the case. As a PC gamer you realize the game's orientation towards the console strongly. Ok ... I can live with. But it nevertheless speaks not mind to make the menu in a certain "Fantasy-style" right? Instead, I feel like in a SAP / Excel - menu. The slots for equipping his Chars and the group members are very unkind. But that's a matter of taste and not really play crucial.

I have problems themselves but also with the map / quest card and combat situations / tactics view. I thought that was all in Origin at an essential better designed. It is positive that these features have again found, contrary to Part 2, where they did not exist apparently the way into the game. But still ... I finds not well done. Although the tactic view is well thought out but in practice very impersonal in battles from the idea. I can advance scout the battlefield, planning and strengths and weaknesses of opponents beforehand explore and use my tactics accordingly targeted. You can at any time pause and give new instructions. Everything sounds great. It "feels" but not really in the game. The fights are for me then in practice anyway "unreal and far away". I did not really feel that I'm doing this. The tactic view has its problems in enclosed spaces. The overview is restricted there. Of course I can drain ala Skyrim fighting even without tactics in real-time mode from the third-person perspective as a solo role-playing game. That's nice to look at and very action-packed. But even here it seems to me not "real". Somehow I'm just a spectator. Hard to explain.

Somewhat unusual is the control. Although the typical commands such. B. W, A, S, D, etc. so are just like most games of this kind, it feels kind of sluggish in. I need time to adjust needed it to feel normal.

Not good, I find the Quest - Map. While there is a quest indicator and I can see aufgedeckete areas and also see where goals Quest areas, etc. are just ... despite Map the route to the destination is difficult. Roads and trails are very difficult to detect in my view, so that it me so far (hinterland) causes problems, the route to the destination "geziehlt" to go. In practice, I go roughly in the direction of the quest display and find the "good luck" then always a path that leads roughly in the right direction. And, although I habe.Die already uncovered the field areas are characterized by a lot of nooks and crannies and small paths. At least the roads and paths I would have liked a little more clearly on the regional map.

Another disadvantage is the way the Quest amount. In the diversenen areas there is no common thread for me. I am confronted with a plethora of quests that chase me from A to Z and Y to W and again from O to S crisscross. If you put yourself nich very disciplined in approach, you quickly lose track. It is advisable for personally a plan for completing Quest to lay cope and to pursue this consistently. Otherwise it will be hairy.

The nature of the quests is average. Why I as leader of the Inquisition to return a wedding ring of a deceased husband, really opens up not me. There are many quests that do not make me feel, what to move.

Last gripe. As a role player, I'm a fan of the distributing skill points. While I can put talent points for skills that I freely switch then. But the genre-typical distribution of points for z. B. strength, willpower, cleverness, dexterity, etc. (depending on class) is no longer necessary, or is automatic. Very unfortunate.

As mentioned, you can buy, it is definitely not bad and there is some way to go to the game. But ... the last spark is missing me due to some details. Without it my pejorative, you realize that games are becoming simpler designed with younger players and consoles suffer the values of an old-school PC role-playing game under. The new Dragon Age is compared to the second part probably a well-intentioned step back to old-school fans and again approached the beloved 1st part of. Nevertheless, it is a compromise ... apart from techn. Progress such. As the graphics engine is the 1st part is still not achieved. And .... actually the massive pleasure, the new 3 part with me back to life to play the 5 year old predecessor again.
