Actually, I had my Nikon AF-S 28-300mm 1: 3.5-5.6G ED VR mainly for holidays bought in order to avoid heavy luggage.
From the quality of the lens and especially by the picture quality I was so pleased that it is now almost always comes to my D800 used. Britzelscharfe photos!
VLT. it should be noted that in a zoom lens the extreme focal lengths avoids, here in the case, the 28 mm and 300 mm. So, if necessary, simply turn zoom ring until it stops and then minimal back ;-)
The stability is very good, so you can take pictures with 290mm at 1/125 sec without shaking (the D800 is really bitchy in a Relationship ;-) The stabilizer also results from a moving jeep out to good results.
Furthermore, I would like to mention the beautiful bokeh, which is also rather uncommon in heavy zoom lenses. At least, the lens is also well suited for in portraying or even for macro shots.
Good haptics and quality workmanship are given (as with all Nikon lenses).
If you should ask yourself as D800-owner therefore, whether the Nikon AF-S 28-300mm, anyway fits your camera: I'm happy with it ;-)
