I now buy the already 6th Genius garlic cutter in the period of approximately 10 years. Actually, I'm very happy with the product due to the ingenious handling. Unfortunately break despite correct use repeatedly plastic parts of the device. Also, a metal version of the Schneiders that looks visually-quality, not lasted longer. The metal version looks only better. the interior is made of exactly the same plastic as the inferior versions of solid plastic. I suspect that the plastic despite alleged dishwasher resistance by the rather aggressive cleaning tablets of dishwasher is under attack.
There is also a very expensive version of WMF. But this has an identical inner life as the original Genius. No Better! :-( I am puzzled by the WMF distributes such material quality.
But as I almost daily cooking with garlic and no desire to have stinky finger, I'll buy now halt again and am hopeful that a genius has finally built a higher quality plastic.
