Why?
1. All old Minolta autofocus lenses (eg from the Dynax) function. (For other manufacturers it will occasionally be problems.) Who is still possesses such old gems of Lens architecture out fine. By compared to the 35mm film reduced image chip, however, the focal length corresponds to 1.5 times to Tele. Sony has taken a lot of Minolta lenses for its own range of lenses and distributes it to the Sony label.
2. The camera is fairly compact and fits perfectly in your hand. Although the housing is made of plastic, it makes a very well-made impression and looks great.
3. The image quality is excellent. Mir is still occurred no incorrect exposure. The color noise is visible from ISO 800 and increases up to 3200 ISO (what a value!) Again quite clearly. Me it does not bother, however, because highly sensitive films earlier so had a coarse grain. Anyway, it's good to have for very low light conditions such a high sensitivity. The colors are excellent. There is the menu but still some ways to modify them if you really want.
4. Excellent works "Super SteadyShot", the built-in image stabilizer housing, which acts on all mounted lenses, so even at 20-year-old Minolta lenses of "stovepipe" series, as well as with lenses from other manufacturers. You win by three light levels, where photos still work without shaking out of my hand! For me this is a very clear argument against Canon, Nikon and Co., where you only get a limited range of lenses that incorporate an image stabilizer in the lens, which makes then even more expensive and mechanically sensitive.
5. The autofocus works very safe and can be (as well as the exposure) in different modes to set. My favorite setting is the spot.
6. The tiltable Live View display is currently a unique feature of the 300 series from Sony. This provides no camera! The quality is in Live View mode naturally somewhat pixelated, but helps tremendously unusual camera positions to place the subject in the picture perfectly. Who can look through the viewfinder when holding the camera high above your head or at the knee?
7. A point has me but not so much, but I do not know but if that others DSLRs do not have to contend: the viewfinder is quite small for someone who comes from the analog SLR photography. But you can get used to it.
All in all I am really happy with the camera. (And from my old lenses!)
