Ideal for the kitchen

The sound is really good with radio transmitters with correspondingly good bit rate, for a kitchen radio. We must now, of course, do not expect a sound like the stereo, it is and remains a kitchen radio, providing his service here really harmless. Genial is the ability to mount it as a base radio, what I have done (this is also very easy thanks to the enclosed drilling template). Really awesome is the ability for [...] with an email address and the MAC address of the appliance (found on the back or in the appliance Info menu) to log in and create so-called favorite lists here. The search stations is of course a lot more relaxed than on the device itself and on any PC with a keyboard in the family can be its own favorite list with the transmitters, which he likes to create. The favorites lists are available immediately after applying on the Web page on the device. That's like saying genial !!

But now sometimes to some negative characteristics of the device, since it must indeed be a reason why I give only 4 stars. As an old IT`ler I naturally first on the home page of Grundig searched for an updated firmware, found and installed exactly as directed. The installation was carried out successfully, according to the software. But as I then logically had to unplug the radio to bring it back to the kitchen, it is no longer starting. After numerous disconnecting and reconnecting to the power supply it was launched back then, but I did then but no peace left and of course I had to try it again and again the same thing, only after repeated disconnecting and reconnecting to the power grid, it took off again. So I wrote an email to the service of Grundig, in which I described the problem. However, since it was Friday night, I no longer expecting a response before the next week. And what can I say, the problem has solved itself. On Saturday, I tested the phenomenon several times and every time the radio started right away. I do not know what the problem was, but it has been done (thank goodness because of Grundig I have received to date about one week after the letter mail still no response - very poor customer service).

One more thing strikes me about Wi-Fi, the receiver on the appliance slightly underpowered because the notebook I have in my kitchen 4 bar signal strength of the wireless signal, the radio is just a bar, which is why I then also to connect via Cable decided with a dLAN adapter, which I had lying at home. Well, is not exactly a speed DLAN wonder regarding the transmission rates, but for an Internet radio it is enough thick.

In conclusion, I must say I do not regret the purchase and agree to the device is also very satisfied, easy installation, easy installation, good quality, very nice design, what more could you expect from a radio. The connection options are varied (USB, LAN, WLAN, media server on the PC), however, I have only tried a USB flash drive with MP3 and it went flawlessly. The FM tuner I have not tested it, because I'm switched for that reason that I have very poor reception in the kitchen on an Internet Radio. DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), it can also, but not broadcast at us, so I can not comment on it.
