I was looking for a small, inexpensive mini-PC, on which I can install Windows and XBMC simultaneously. Negative experiences in the XBMC experience I had previously done with the Zotac AQ01 with the AMD chipset A4-5000 because some movies juddered when DXVA2 was clicked in XBMC. Under OpenELEC however, everything ran smoothly. But I wanted Windows. And so I was looking for a replacement and found him in this little device, which cools passively and therefore silent. The price is also extremely low. The PC is very well made, all in registration, though the exterior is very cautious. The installation did not work quite easily with Windows 8 / 8.1, since any driver was outdated for the SD host controller. The USB ports were even when the PC is energized, so that my connected hard disks always running. After eternal I could try to adjust the settings in the BIOS so that everything worked properly. XBMC 13.2 on it and all the movies are played back smoothly and fluently. DXVA2 works here quite outstanding with Intel drivers. The small box is well equipped and can be operated by my Harmony One are (profile Zotac ID62 choose). If I stay, I like the after years of looking very.
Update 9/29/2014: HD passthrough seems not to work on Windows, because PAP is required. Under OpenELEC it works beautifully because PAP is not required for Linux.
Have OpenELEC installed on a newer USB 3.0 flash drive from Sony. In this drive, there were difficulties at the start, because it was detected only sporadically. It must therefore necessarily the next flights from Zotac USB3.0 firmware update (I do not mean the driver, can be found at BIOS) are used to ensure proper operation of USB3.0.
Under Windows 8.1 32-bit (64-bit Zotac supplies a driver), there is no driver for the SD host controller.
