Sigma-typically you get an all-inclusive package also at cheap lenses. Apart from the two protective caps for front lens and bayonet includes a lens hood (also GeLi or Gegenlichtblende called) course supplied to and must not (the cheap Canon lenses such as) are purchased separately.
Specifications Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC
As the acronym suggests DC on behalf on, the lens for APS-C / Cropkameras is expected and even at these usable - recognizable by the white dot on the lens of a lens with EF-S mount (available only for this APS-C ) features.
The image circle of a full-frame sensor is not completely covered and in the viewfinder shows a clearly recognizable black border, the visible image itself is circular.
The superzoom from Sigma covers a focal length range of 18-200mm, which could also (as in Bridge and compact cameras available) refer to as "10x Zoom". Converted to the small picture format results so at a APS-C Canon with a crop factor of 1.6, an image cutout of 29 - 320mm.
The Sigma has not yet sure but rum already provided below entirely in the ultra wide angle above with decent telephoto.
An image stabilizer is not present, you need for a high yield of sharp images at 200mm at least a shutter speed of 1/200 (or shorter) - that's only possible with extreme revving the ISO level in buildings, cloudy sky, hazy day or at dusk ,
The superzoom is not really strong and light does not have a continuous open aperture. The smallest aperture appears at 18mm and is 3.5 (24mm - 4.0; 28mm - 4.5; 38mm - 5.0; 72mm - 5.6).
An exemption of objects by the large initial aperture numbers still possible, but requires a little background knowledge and a lot of space. Portraits of people succeed by the exemption fro best with 200mm at maximum aperture, may well lack large maximum aperture by choosing a long focal length (such as those prime lenses offer) to be compensated.
The autofocus motor runs quietly and quite fast, manual focusing is also possible (switch MF / AF on the lens)
The lens can be mechanically secured at 18mm, so that not slipping out even when upside down-supporting manner of the objective of the tube - 'until now I can not find a Herrausrutschen without locking.
The filter thread has a diameter of 62mm
Sigma 18-200mm haptics 1: 3.5-6.3 DC
The Sigma touches his well and mediates (partly thanks to the soft coating) a good and solid impression - much better than expensive lenses / fixed focal lengths of Canon and Nikon from - 500 class. The focus ring (manual focus) is running in my opinion slightly after a eating, but shows no game.
Optical power Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC
A superzoom always represents a compromise between focal length range, light intensity, distortion and focus. Of course, the optical performance can not be with KIT lenses or even the very good L-zoom or fixed focal lengths compare but that is not the area of operation of such a lens.
The Sigma supplies already at full aperture solid results, which includes prints up to A4 problemslos for normal (Knipser-) claims to peace bodies should. Like other lenses also takes the edge (degrees towards the edges) clearly when one is dimmed or twice.
The distortions can be clearly seen, are degrees when straight lines such as in Archtiekturfotos customary photographed. For landscapes, or the usual holiday but they are recognizable only to a trained eye or a closer look (horizon, sea surface). The distortions can be but easily on a PC using appropriate software (eg PTLens) rausrechnen.
Contrasts and colors are okay, whom it is too flat, either in the menu of the camera, the color / contrast, recover (at Canon is the Picture Styles) or later easily move up the saturation and contrast of the PC.
Practical experience with the Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC
I use this lens on a Canon EOS 1000D exclusively for documentary purposes at work. I photograph so meetings, acquittals, trade shows etc and have to say that can make full use of its advantages, a superzoom here.
On the one hand I do not constantly change lenses (which would be in time but not always possible), also I need not pack much in the camera bag - EOS 1000D, Sigma 18-200mm and a Metz AF 48-1 - finished. The whole thing is very compact and light. The picture quality is perfectly adequate, most images are used to document and be max. fully exposed in A4 or in web resolution (800 × 600) in Internet / Intranet published.
Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC - suitable for whom?
A superzoom is a superzoom is a superzoom - Regardless of which model / brand you choose, the compromises you make in the use of such a lens in the price range between 200-700, always remain the same.
The Fotofreak, promoted or even (semi) Pro will turn up their noses at such a lens due to the restrictions, privately, I use only Canon prime lenses because they offer the best compromise between image quality, light intensity, and the purchase price and degree in Sachenbildqualiät in a very play completely different league.
So a lens that does not really need? Not at all, because who just photos of the level of compact and bridge cameras (from mobile photos I want here times not speak) would like to make, usually remains in the green (Full Auto) mode and in photo memories of the last holiday / birthday / want to preserve Christmas etc. for themselves and their families (Yes, these people there are in fact, and not too tight;)) is with such a lens the right place. The lens should never really be replaced, and the camera bag thereby falls out quite small.
In conjunction with a small body like the EOS 1000D gives such a combination that a lot (thanks to the APS-C sensor even at high ISOs) already offers image quality in a small space and modest financial means. A fill flash is can on board, who needs more retrofit a shoe mount flash.
My conclusion Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC
If the Application is true and you can live with the limitations mentioned in the text, so the Sigma 18-200mm 1: 3.5-6.3 DC really a good all lens that grade for the price (200 for writing this review) a good price / performance ratio represents.
Who tends to shaky hands or like animals in twilight or under poor lighting conditions photographed, but should already draw * lens with image stabilization into consideration a superzoom that but twice as expensive as presented here.
