Since I have among other things a Windows 8.1 laptop with current hardware and UEFI (successor to the BIOS), the 2010 version was for me but no longer sufficient. Real alternatives in terms of operating system independence, speed and ease of use I have not found, so I decided to return for the current version.
To install I downloaded the latest software from the Acronis Web site, there can be found also an ISO file for a suitable boot media.
Secured I have problems with the boot media that Windows 8.1 - (bought early 2014) Notebook with UEFI and additionally my 4 year old PC with SSD and Windows 7. The hardware has been detected in two and put the backups without difficulty to an end.
The software suite I have Windows 7 - installed PC, there I was able to integrate the two images as drives and files start / open directly from there. The same is true for still images that I created with previous versions. For me this is a clear indication of the quality assurance, which I continue to trust.
All the additional functions (cloud, etc.) I have not in use, so I can not say anything about it. The "core competence" image backup is vital for myself and there I see Acronis also in the latest version as a very powerful tool to, which greatly simplifies my backups and can avoid costly new installations.
However, I would like to see a scaled-down version that (as previously) is focused on the imaging. Under the overload with new functions may suffer, in my view, a good product that was already with Nero to me. But as the used by me features to function, I am using the latest version still very satisfied.
