The printer replaces an HP Laserjet printer as a workplace. I just wanted to at my workplace have no laser printers directly and was for some time in search of a suitable replacement. I'm actually not a fan of inkjet printers (except for large format / plotters) but everything is so alternatives are (eg solid ink Xerox or Ricoh GelSprinter) has not convinced me.
My requests were:
- 2nd cassette possible (the HP 8100 ordered as an accessory)
- Waterproof and especially highlighter-resistant ink
- Quiet
- Fast
- Good print quality
- Low cost even with color printing
After Xerox and Ricoh have resigned (to high printing costs and reports on some poor print quality) were ultimately only 2 office-compatible inkjet left:
- Epson B-510 DN
- HP Officejet Pro 8100
Epson I almost taken; is a great printer with standard 2nd paper tray, beautiful large ink cartridges and super low printing costs. Had I at least thought ...... because users report that the ink not nearly as long as indicated holding (I suppose for example by cleaning processes); Also report meherere users of faulty paper feeding and general reviews see not sooooo good.
Thus, it is the HP Officejet Pro 8100 has become.
2) The 8100 in service:
==================================
The printer is now for 4 weeks in use, a long-term report because I can not give, of course, but so far I am very satisfied. In the first few pages he had little impropriety of expression, which are, however, after a cleaning passage completely eliminated.
One notices that the 8100 is designed for the office environment; he is very well made and seems to be robust to be (for example, the mechanics in the / the paper tray (s) of metal as befits a professional printer).
The supplied ink lasts longer than originally thought. Incidentally, if you speak with the ink of highlighter-resistant, must not expect that this is just like a laser printer, ie even highlighter is used in a direction you ok; but once you "travels" with the highlighter on the sheet back and forth smearing the ink.
The software and in general the possibilities of the printer convince .... eg ability to print multiple pages on one sheet, duplex printing, etc., and everything works very smoothly, as it should be.
3) Conclusion
==============
I'll still another 8100 order, which is just replacing a laser printer.
As before, however, are also laser printers in use (eg, for high-volume print jobs), however, in a separate technical room.
The 8100 has certainly convinced me, and I can therefore recommend him without reservation.
