In short, after more than 6 months of use, I am usually very satisfied with this rule helmet but for the price, one could expect better. The finish is not bad, the sound is very correct (not a Hi-Fi headphones), especially when connected to a PS3 / PS4 with PULSE Manager software (available free on the PS Store) , for using presets for various games, though still few for now (TLOU, GTA V, Infamous,). Autonomy leaves a little to be desired by cons. I do not play often but when I play, my sessions can last between 4 and 6 hours non-stop. And the helmet he does not take that long at least when connected to the console. It seems to me that its autonomy is greater when I plug the USB dongle into my Panasonic SmartTV. I should win easily two hours, I do not know why. Probably because of the Pulse Manager software, which also manages the BassBoost function (which I find useless and lousy).
Suddenly, through the TV (via USB stick) the sound is a bit less good but allows me to play longer. Not to mention that the cable for charging is 60cm: can not consider recharging playing unless you have a solid USB extension and the cooldown is long enough: count +/- 4 hours for a full charge, although too long.
The microphone is meanwhile very well thought out, hidden (so no risk of breaking it), the function settings between the cat and the game is very helpful, also the Mute button, but I admit that it takes a adaptation time before choosing the location of all buttons, so there are on this helmet! It still happens to me often having to remove it from my head to "find" the right button!
His biggest problem, apart from the weak autonomy to me when playing more than 4 hours, is its weight: it ended up really hurting on the top of the skull, bar supports, divided into two (what an idea at the con) is not really comfortable. It is too rigid and too hard cushion. Especially if you wear glasses (my case), you'll have to move it regularly to avoid having your legs crushed between your ears and the helmet, which is really too strong after 3 or 4 hours. I also have a fairly large head size (58cm, measured at the forehead), detail that should be considered when purchasing a helmet.
Otherwise, it's only happiness: I use that as helmet on a Retina iPad, an iMac 27 '(either wirelessly or via the USB dongle via the headphone output but suddenly it is "plugged "and allows less movement), a SmartTV Panasonic 55 ', a PS3, a PS4 with Skype, short, it can be used on ALL existing media (well almost, and on Xbox360 One, you forget, logical!), without install anything, which is rare.
And if you find that the cat's audio quality is not good on PS3: this is normal, this is not the helmet that is the problem but the cat Sony, the worst in the world I think if you test the headset with Skype on a computer (newer), you will see, the sound is nickel! (I have not tested the cat on PS4 but I hope it will be better)
So this is not yet the ultimate headset but for me, and after several tests, it is far ahead of the Steelseries headsets and other cheap, yet sold at the same price.
Anyway on PS4, for those seeking simplicity: go ahead, you will not regret it (indeed around me, all those with a PS3 or PS4 bought this helmet, which can sometimes find on ebay or Amazon less than 100)
Faults:
- Low autonomy for big players
- Headband too hard, eventually hurt the top of the skull (after 2 or 3 hours in my case)
- Helmet greenhouse if you have a fairly large head size and if you wear glasses to large branches
- The mini USB headset for charging, too short
- The BassBoost: completely useless (and even more quickly consumes battery!)
- Pseudo 5.1 (sound is nickel, but it is far from a real 5.1 home theater sound reproduction)
Quality:
- Compatible with (almost) all existing media: PS3 / PS4 / PSVita, Mac, SmartTV, Tablet and Smartphone,
- No interference / interference with other devices in the room
- Quality / great price
- Adjusting the balance between the volume of chat and game volume, very practical
- Micro, invisible and that mitigates well enough ambient sounds but is a little too sensitive at times (playing with the volume of the game in the living room speakers, using the headset for the cat and your caller will hear the sound of game at home with echo)
- Real Plug'n'play!
FYI, I almost played more than headphones, especially in the evening / night. It's so much nicer to enjoy the sound environment of a game, without boring the whole neighborhood and / or family!
Remains to be seen how long the headset will before damaging, knowing that I am very careful and I have to use +/- 10h / week (which is likely to increase with the release of Destiny and a problem due to its low autonomy)
