For years, I use Gigaset phones. My date last Gigaset SL550 was. With this phone I was extremely pleased over 10 years and it has never let me down, looked until recently like new.
Since I now my telecom connection to IP (Magenta ZuHause M VDSL50) have changed, I wanted to change my phones and what could be more natural than a new Gigaset phone.
Have informed me extensively and me then decided in the sum of all the properties for the Gigaset SL400H.
**** **** Impression
The first impression was: But is this small.
The SL400H impresses despite its small size with a pleasant seriousness, a metal case in polished stainless steel and feels very valuable.
The feel is impressive, the keyboard is full-surface and hugs to the edge of the casing. The pressure point is fine. The illumination of the keypad is uniformly white, the display is sufficiently large and the display quality is 128 x 160 pixels at 7 lines in yet sufficient range.
The SL400H has a fold in the inner battery, so no AAA batteries. For this, the housing would be too shallow.
The battery can be changed by removing the rear cover, which is simply plugged.
**** *** Terminal
The Gigaset SL400H - so the handset without answering machine with a charging cradle - I bought for connection to a FritzBox 7390 and 7490, which is located at a telecom VoIP connection.
The Gigaset SL400H can thus be registered directly to the integrated DECT station FritzBox 7390 and 7490.
The application to the Fritz box was done in a few seconds and went very smoothly.
**** **** Use
Call quality is excellent. The caller is understood excellent and you will even understood properly. No disturbances.
The Geräteeistellungen are made largely intuitive and fast.
The ring tones are a bit sparse and I actually only 2 sounds found satisfied me, but that's a matter of taste. In addition, you can download and install their own sounds.
This requires a USB mini data cable that will cost only a few euros.
In addition, one should consider at the start, if there is the latest firmware on the SL400. For this one uses the Gigaset QuickSync program that you can download from the Gigaset HP.
If you SL400H plugged into the charging station, which is also very good looking, you can set whether the analog or digital clock is still displayed on the display. The but you can also disable.
When plugging in the charger will sound an elegant discreet advisory, which is another little feature just that this premium phone highlights.
The SL400H has at the bottom of a mini USB port, but no headset port. For this you have to use the built-in Bluetooth.
The most extensive facilities I would not continue to list, only as much: Bluetooth, mini USB port, Calendar, Scheduler, baby monitors, handsfree, address book with 500 entries and so much more .....
Unfortunately, the SL400 can not stand, that you can not stand upright when you want to use the speakerphone for example. This requires you to lie down there.
**** **** Criticism
Actually, almost nothing. Actually ...
Perfectly processed, extensively equipped, top design. The SL400H is a high quality, compact, one might say, small phone for use at home.
And there is the only criticism you could install: It's almost too small.
A lengthy conversation gets a little tiring quickly, as the case may be slippery through the polished metal frame in hand. You have to constantly follow up to make it a non-slip out of hand, or supported by a finger at the bottom.
I have rather small and delicate surgeons hands, imagine how it is for larger hands.
Remedy can certainly create a Bluetooth headset or the built-in speakerphone.
**** Conclusion ****
As I said, a high-quality phone with a top equipment. Who gets no problems with very small dimensions, which is to recommend the SL400H.
I decided against it, but makes little comfortable only because the little too small dimensions that keep a comfortable phone for longer conversations.
I will therefore return SL400H. It gets to me, however, deservedly the full 5 stars.
I have decided in the meantime for another Gigaset that I will review shortly.
I hope I could be a piece of some help prospective customers far in choosing a new phone in the house area.
