As such, the disk is not bad, it is a little fast and does what it should. Unfortunately, there are a few things that bothered me. Worst of all, I found the volume during operation. It's all the time to hear a noise what so sounds like a fan. All other ext. Hard drives from other manufacturers which are much quieter, some even hardly hear I own. Furthermore bothered me that much too bright wild flashing LED. I had the hard drive always turn towards you that the LED does not see it as for example when watching movies but quite disturbed. What I find not good, is that the hard drive does not work by itself out when not in use. The Toshiba Canvio Basics (1TB) for example makes the fact. And finally, there is the sharp outline of the case, basically right where you touch the hard drive to lift. It feels like when the edge had not been trimmed properly. This is the way I noticed also at exhibits in different stores, so that's probably all that. For these reasons, I then summarily ordered the Toshiba Canvio Basics and could directly compare both disks. Because the Toshiba is a lot quieter and all the other shortcomings did not have, I have the WD ultimately sent back.
