I have not dropped the case with the computer in it, but the foam is very rigid and very robust. It closes further on top to completely isolate the computer. Annexes pockets are very well studied: in addition to the computer, I can arrange it by a mouse (not great either), AC adapter, my graphics tablet, the stylus that comes with it and also a notebook. This is quite respectable.
On the exterior, the finish is NICKEL, sides and bottom are sealed and buckles are metal. Worth a price, but the degree of finish and durability and protection are indeed present.
