Once one has tasted it difficult to do without it is like power windows on a car, as it did not exist, it will be well spent, but now we find it essential comfort.
Some requirements are needed to draw really benefit:
First, one must shoot in RAW (NEF in Nikon, other manufacturers have their names to them) and especially not in jpg because only the RAW format allows all exposure and color corrections.
Then there is of course essential to correct its photos using software made for this. Nikon there are several more or less free, but the best of the best is on Lightroom at Adobe. (Photoshop is much heavier).
For use, concretely, we take a reference photo with SpyderCube in the picture, it is removed and the session is normally, and then we quite simply restores the proper exposure and temperature on the photo test, which easily takes 15 seconds, and synchronizes these corrections on the pictures. Childish, super fast, completely effective.
Personally, I now use every time I have more than a dozen photos to lighting in difficult conditions (including photos of show). It easily fits in a pocket (to give an idea, I think we could do to hold two in a standard pack of cigarettes), I always have my camera bag.
Only one "defect", beware the price: variable of a merchant and a week to week if we bought separately, it is also provided in different kits / lots with other products from home datacolor such as colorimetric probes (4 Spyder also essential!), color charts, etc.
