Note, there is some confusion as to the internal or external destination of this antenna. This vagueness is to be attributed to the manufacturer which in turn indicates any mention of the documents attached to the antenna, "interno" of the manual in Italian but "exterior" in Spanish ... After checking out TP-Link site, this model (TL-ANT2409 A) is intended for indoor use. The equivalent model for outdoor use is the TL-ANT2409 B - slightly more expensive and has a different connector.
From the point of view of performance, the scope of this antenna is much better in its main direction than 5dBi omnidirectional antennas that fit most standard WiFi equipment. In "mixed" environment (indoor antenna, reception in the garden) scope is almost tripled. However, it is far from the performance provided by the manufacturer who does not hesitate to announce 140m to 54kbps - without specifying the test conditions, it is true.
In short, a very suitable antenna and a reasonable cost to improve the connection to a remote WiFi access point or to sprinkle a difficult reception area. But with only 9dBi gain, so do not expect miracles. For more extreme conditions, it will probably move towards more efficient models, but the price and the dimensions increase accordingly!
