The Olympus VN-731 is an inexpensive and simple recording device, the operation is intuitive, especially if you already have other devices operated eg from Sony or Philips. It has 2 major drawbacks: 1. It can not absorb any SD card. You have to hand over the entire device or cumbersome transfer recording via cable to a laptop / PC and save from there on SD card. In this respect, it is already different from the phone, because it is hard to deliver for a few days. 2. The sound quality is trimmed to language with other words, it is inferior to, for example, during video operation with a compact camera. So you is not so to the concert of your favorite band, but you can example, when shooting talking comments on it and use it when cutting later. The device has been designed reasonably, is not a cheap commodity and the batteries should obviously very, very long. Olympus has but also a powerful device that is much more flexible and cost, approx. 6 x more. That's why this inexpensive part is indeed located in the entry-level segment, but does his job very well.
