The installation was very easy to stick cable to the external Wifi adapter in the dongle and then off to the HDMI input of the TV. USB plug einsteken, TV and head downhill.
With the iPad, you can read the QR code and thus comes in the store of Apple to the APP downloading. I did it on the manual way, App Store and wanted to found and installed.
Then you get further help instructions how to proceed.
Establish a WLAN connection to the dongle with the iPad. The dongle acts as Access Point. On the iPad under Settings -> Wifi EZ Cast selected and copied the appropriate password from the TV. Connection successful.
So, we go further and the app finds the dongle and you are connected.
The other setting is now to connect the dongle to the router. Here you click on Settings, Wi-Fi and is looking for its own router, enters the password and bang you are connected.
Best also directly change the language from English / Chinese to German. :-) That makes everything easier!
So far so good. So far everything has worked. Somehow I was also really happy that everything went so well, that's not always the case with technical devices. If it were not for the BUT. But more on that later.
In the app are a few symbols Photos, Video etc.
Clicking on photos, you should have Zugiff on his photos and display them on the screen. Unfortunately, that did not work out.
You click on video, asks the app if accessed Photos should wiedern and obtained indicated the data stored on the iPad video. If you select a video, one can see in the preview, and then play them on the TV. Unfortunately this does not work right, but the video had to be converted. Although this has lasted only a few seconds, but the video was only 20 seconds long. Too bad, but it is not usable. There was also no function to delete the video again ...
Well, I thought, I watch the Airplay function. Geswiftet the bottom tab bar with the fingers and as the Airplay icon was already. Zack connected and can be seen on the TV to the iPad screen.
That's just been a great feature. Browser and Zack called fast times to Google. Cool goes. Very nice. So you can also view his photos / videos that are on the iPad.
Cool, then goes anyway everything, I thought. Use I only treat the Airplay function.
But now comes the disappointment. How do I access pictures on my NAS? How to videos?
Who thinks now, quite simply, finally you have now only reconnect to his router and then you can appeal to the Airplay also through my router? Exactly here lies the rub. It does not work. This is not as intended. I have read through the instruction manual, unfortunately only in English and found nothing.
The sly look at the TV shows it but. The concept thus provides a compound not before. That to me is a no go, and so I'm sending the dongle back.
The detailed assessment here is simply to other buyers it notices immediately, so you will not be disappointed.
Benefits:
+ Easy installation
+ Air Play works well with local content from your iPad or from the browser
+ Small and handy
+ Price
Disadvantages:
- Wifi dongle externally (may be an advantage for some, for me it is a disadvantage, because you hang around so one cable longer there.
- Connection only as an access point on the dongle itself
- App is unloving and functionally limited
- No access to local network resources
- Instructions in English and Chinese
