Having a command gtx970 I returned because I could not install it, I chose to turn to a 960. When installing it, same problem as with the 970 gtx . The card installed, the PC starts propose the BIOS and then remains at a black screen.
No solution on the forums after BIOS updated ... So I started my PC (win 8.1) in safe mode where the card is well recognized in the device manager. I then installed the drivers for the card via nvidia site and everything works finally!
Personally, I have never had so much problem has installed computer equipment. 2 star less for that.
