Customer Review

First, concerning the dimensions of the screen, be aware there is a 16/9 screen and not 16/10 as shown by mistake in the product MSDS. The difference between a screen and a 16/10 16/9 is considerable, to the advantage of the first, of course.

Besides, if the screen was 16/10, its definition should be, for the same dot pitch, 1920 x 1200 and not of 1920 x 1080. The screen is therefore 16/9, as is confirmed on the website of Iiyama. Moreover, none of my brand monitor goes beyond resolution 1920 x 1080. Just go to the manufacturer's website to realize: there is no Iiyama monitor in 16 / 10.

Finally, keep in mind the following: what counts on a screen, it is not its size (27 inches by 16/9), but its not mask attached to the number of pixels (here 1920 x 1080 or 2,073,600 pixels).

Now this is where the rub: The screen is beautiful to 27 inches diagonally, its definition is too just to the 27 inches are good for something. Note also a significant fact anywhere except at the site of Iiyama, the mask is not specified. This is not the case of Fujitsu P-27-T Professional Series (Fujitsu P Line P27T-6 IPS - LCD display - TFT - 27 "- widescreen - 2560 x 1440 to 350 cd / m2 - 1000: 1 to 20,000: 1 (dynamic) - 6 ms - 0.233 mm - 2xHDMI, DVI-D, VGA, DisplayPort - speakers, 27 inches to the definition staggering: over 3.7 million pixels, a dot pitch less than 0.24 mm and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 for a 16/9 screen of the same size as the Iiyama! But the price is obviously not the same (over 700 for the Fujitsu, less than 300 for the Iiyama ). In addition, Fujitsu has a display port, future connection (but very rare) and an IPS panel (the Iiyama only having a TN). Also note the existence of the Dell U2711H the Ultra Sharp series, similar to Fujitsu, but the anti-reflective coating challenged.

Second mistake MSDS: The monitor does not have the portrait mode and pivot function.

To be perfectly objective, I would say that the screen Iiyama has positives and negatives:

A) The "plus":

1) 27 inches to less than 280 TTC.
2) Tilting base (height only).
3) Quality of manufacture.
4) Image Quality.
5) High quality and color accuracy.
6) Energy consumption (less advantageous than the Dell U2211H, see below). Eco mode.
7) Edge of the matte screen (not "glossy").
8) 3-year warranty on site.

B) The "minus":

1) 1920 x 1080 only for a 27-inch (the "pitch" [= no mask], equal to 0.31125 mm is rude).
2) frequency of 60 Hz only maximum resolution (75 Hz to 1440 x 900).
3) Screen 16 x 9 (I do not like, I would have preferred a 4/3 or, failing that, a 16 x 10).
4) Screen too bright (but by adjusting the brightness to 25%, we manage to endure).
5) Absence portrait mode and pivot function.
6) Lack of USB.
7) Lack of HDMI cable.
8) Sheets of DVI-D a little "cheap" cable.
9) TN panel.

In conclusion: This screen is good for photo editing (accurate colors and good coverage of the gamut). However, its definition (1900 x 1080) is insufficient for the office because of its size (27 inches). Effect of the characters is observed almost dotted very tiring in the long run for the view.

Fashion is the great wide format screens. This mode has been imposed by manufacturers. But the computer is not the main function of viewing films. We have TVs for that. In addition, office automation, 4/3 is much more pleasant and useful. A 27-inch or more justifies its price and its size on the desktop if its definition is higher than that of 22 or 24 inches, and reaches therefore the 2560 x 1600 pixels or 16/10 2560 x 1440 16/9. A diagonal of 27 inches or more is only window dressing, proposed only for marketing reasons, since the definition is identical to the lower diagonal screens (1920 x 1080).

The lack of portrait mode and USB is also very disabling. Hence my two-star rating only.

Very disappointed with the purchase of Iiyama, I ordered two months after a 22-inch screen (which in fact actually 21.5). This is a Dell Ultra Sharp series, the Dell UltraSharp U2211H U2211H - LCD display - TFT - 21.5 ".

Cheaper to buy, cheaper power consumption, its connectivity is better, while the color accuracy is as good as on the Iiyama.

Its definition is identical (1920 x 1080), but the screen is matte and above its consumption is incredibly low (22 W). It has 4 more USB ports, a portrait mode (very useful), a display port socket (this is non-existent on the Iiyama), a mask not less than 0.25 mm (one of the Iiyama is greater than 0.31 mm), superb definition. Only the dimension 16/9 is annoying (as on the Iiyama or Fujitsu, however) and notes the lack of HDMI. Its contrast ratio is quite low, but in any case, higher contrast would have been embarrassing and we should decrease the setting. And, above all, it has an IPS panel, not as on the Iiyama TN.

Certainly screen dimensions are much smaller, but just close the screen, which is also less space for the same definition. The result for the view is so much better, more enjoyable. The rest can be placed on this screen MUCH information on the 27 inch Iiyama ... This is why we must first of all understand.

I'm not an aficionado of the Dell brand, except for the screens, which I find, IN HIGH (Ultra sharp series, I insist) far superior in terms of quality - price ratio for all other brands ( Fujitsu except, unfortunately poorly brand distributed in France).

Know that the 23-inch Dell Dell - U2311H - TFT - widescreen 58.4 cm (23 ") - LED, VGA, DVI - Response Time 8 ms - Black (Import Germany) has the same features as its little brother 22 inches. So, as it is larger, the pitch is also larger (remember that the higher the pitch is low, the screen is better, other things being equal). And it consumes twice of energy. However, its contrast ratio is greater (which is, in my opinion, unnecessary, even for deep blacks in digital photography).

Also note that there is a Dell 24-inch with the same characteristics as the previous two, but not size 16/10 16/9. This means that the number of pixels exceeds 1920 x 1200. This format is ideal for office because, in landscape position, the monitor can display two pages side by side 21 x 27 in portrait and full-size (breeding 1 for 1) UltraSharp U2412M - LCD-Display - TFT (Attention: the price shown on it is higher than the price displayed on the Dell site).

There is also the LG-W3000H-BN 30-inch 16/10 definition equal to 2560 x 1600 and no mask equal to 0.25 mm, which is very satisfactory. Unfortunately, the price is really high (over 1100), it has no portrait mode (but for a 30-inch, this is not really a problem since the width is greater than the length of 22 inches, and can -be even 24 inches) and most importantly, it consumes a lot (130 watts instead of 22 watts for the 22-inch Dell).

SUMMARY:

Dell U2211H: IPS panel, 16/9, 4 USB, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 display port, 21.5 ", 1920 x 1080, 22 W, 0.247 mm pitch, portrait mode, about 220.

Dell U2311H: IPS panel, 16/9, 4 USB, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 display port, 21.5 ", 1920 x 1080, 22 W, 0.255 mm pitch, portrait mode, about 235.

Dell U2412M: IPS panel, 16/9, 4 USB, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 display port, 24 ", 1920 x 1200, 38 W, 0.27 mm pitch, portrait mode, less than 350.

Iiyama P27HDS: TN panel, 16/9, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 27 ", 1920 x 1080, 45 W, pitch 0.31125 mm, 280.

Fujitsu P27T-6-IPS: IPS panel, 16/9, 4 USB, 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 2 HDMI, 1 display port, 27 ", 2560 x 1440, 75 W, 0.233 mm pitch, portrait mode, about 730 .

Finally, I add that if it again, I would buy one immediately screen the Fujistsu P27T-6 IPS-that is, ultimately, very near the screen Dell U2211H, but of equal dimension to Iiyama 27 HDS. Compared to the two purchases I have made, I would have spent about 200 more, but I would have been fully satisfied (I could put much more information on Fujitsu as the Iiyama, and for the same space) and would be certain to keep the screen a decade or more. The only fault is to be Fujitsu 16/9 instead of 16/10. But as the screen is bigger than the Dell U2412M and better defined than the Iiyama, this has less importance.

Another possibility would be to buy two Dell U2211 displays H and use the well-known technique called "extended desktop windows." Total cost: less than 470 euros (= 2 x 235 = = cost of supplying about 455); Total power consumption: 44 watts. This is the solution to which I direct myself, for lack of better (the disadvantage of such a solution remaining separation of about 3 cm between the two screens).

In portrait mode, you get a set of about 6/5 and dimension probably roughly equivalent to 28 inches for a total definition higher than 2560 x 1600 or 1150 LG Fujitsu to 710. The definition of LG and Fujitsu is indeed to 4,096,000 pixels; one of the set consisting of the two screens Dell U2211H is 4,147,200 pixels (of course, requires that the graphics card can keep power and connections ...). Recall, for the record, that the definition of Iiyama is 2,073,600 pixels only (HannsG 28 inches - 27.5 inches in reality - is not better than the Iiyama, except that it is 16 / 10, which, in his case, does not bring anything more in terms of definition and visual comfort).

One last point: ALL screens mentioned in this comment have a vertical scanning frequency of 60 Hz at full resolution (1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440 depending on the case). This frequency is much lower than the standard (75 Hz) set by the global medical community as necessary to protect human health (including ophthalmological matter). So this is a huge step backwards compared to the performance of CRTs from the end of last century. Consumer associations should alert the legislative powers of democratic countries on this crucial subject.

Notes on Iiyama HDS 27: 1) On my copy, I noticed a slight distortion of the image in the direction of the convexity on the right side of the screen (which, moreover, yet proves to be perfectly flat ). But perhaps is it a problem of parallax or a slight deformation of my sight.

2) I did not notice any noise operation of the display itself (for a brightness equal to 25% of its maximum, a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a vertical scanning frequency equal to 60 Hz). Settings by NVDIA control panel; video card Asus EN-8600-GT 512 Silent PCI Express.

I am told here that this setting by Nvidia panel is not Orthodox, power consumption is not decreasing, and it is better to decrease the brightness of the OSD screen. And that snoring reappear once one proceed in this way. I have not been able to verify what is on my copy, having put my Iiyama, yet brand new, having discarded and replaced it with my Dell U2211H happiness.

3) I advise (on the Iiyama) the following settings:
Brightness: 25%
Contrast: 20%
Digital Radiance: 0
Gamma: 6%

4) Eco mode, combined with the previous settings, provides, in addition to energy saving, extra gentle for the view.
