* Package Contents *
The CPL 2, 2 ethernet cable 2m USB-RCA cable and mini jack, manuals, installation CD.
* Presentation of boxes *
Composed of two CPL, this package includes the basic XAV1601 model 200Mbps and XAU2511 which has the distinction of having a USB plug (watch the color is blue, however, it remains 2.0!).
The "normal" case CPL is pretty awesome, at the opening I have been very surprised, we advance towards or even nano scale models, and here we return on huge models
The music extender box is slightly thinner (about 3mm) but sallonge length, discretion levels we've seen better
They are painted white, this is pretty, not messy and difficult to scratch. The cables are of a light gray tone. This is well made, as the finish.
* Sharing *
Whether the hard drive or USB key, the two have taken some time to be recognized by the computer (Windows and Mac) the folder to folder navigation is slow 5sec on average. To copy a file from the same hard drive, this is to 3mo / sec: slow.
Navigation: you must click on the name of the CPL that will pop up on the network, expect that it reflect a shared folder or USB USB Folder (mac) appears and falls lon tree structure on the hard drive.
To summarize: this is too long to be useful, particularly in everyday life.
Important point: the drive connected to the USB port is not recognized by the Xbox or Playstation, so no multimedia playback possible! Damage
Also: the hard disk does not remain on constantly (unless your configuration is different), mine goes to sleep after some minutes here this is the same, surprising since this is connected to a power supply source.
* CPL function *
Jai ethernet cable 25m, with 13 mega jarrive after still (non-unbundled areas, must do!) With CPL, the jai mega 12/13, so virtually no loss in reeving lélectrique . It works by just plugging and pleasant this is not to try.
You can secure all with an encryption key using the supplied software or press the boxes on the safety button to secure the connection.
* Music function *
With dun iphone, I was able to test the communication in airplay, Netgear claims compatibility with mobile and Android tablets.
Jai speakers connected to my subwoofer itself connected to my amp, so you connect the RCA plugs on Lampl, (on my Pioneer VSX 920, i connected to the output "CD", these are only designations) .
My iPhone detects airplay receiver, the CPL (you can change the name with the software to make such music network), I click on it and put play, everything works! There is still a lag between when lon pressed (for play, change music, fast forward) and taking into account, this is because of the wifi connection (no Bluetooth). Overall this is great, it works, not DInstalling, this is pretty much fluid but it does what quon asked. The sound can be modified on the iPhone or on your device. Attention there is a slight loss of sound due to the bonding course. Note: the iPad also works, CPL plays music contained on your iPhone / iPad or Android device of course.
Apparently it could stream music from Spotify or Deezer also (untested).
* Software *
It is divided into 3 parts: documentation, "cockpit" of the installation with the details of each Netgear device.
You can rename, improve safety, allow addresses turn off diodes, useful functions but this is not comprehensive enough I think. Furthermore, loading with every click is long because it updates the network diagram.
* Compatibility *
With self-powered hard drives, up to 1 tera (my case), a capacity I do not know. Scanners and printers are in the game.
You can connect a USB hub with external power supply.
For CPL, according to Netgear, the following models are supported: XAVB1601, XAVB2602, XAV2101, XAVB1301, XAVB5101, XAVB5201, XAVB5601, XAVB5602, XAVNB2001, XWNB5201, XWNB1601, XWNB5602.
* Environmentally friendly *
Automatic standby during periods of inactivity; less than 1 watt in standby mode. On / off button on the music extender only.
It keeps the standby settings of the hard disk (this is my case).
Strengths:
- Case of good quality, robust
- Internet high flow rates
- Music in airplay
- Filter power supply
- Environmentally
- Complete Packaging
- Software practice
- Simple instructions, clear, effective (rare to be underlined)
- Multifunction (flitre food, sharing, wireless music ...)
- Compatible with Windows and Mac
Weak points:
- 1 single USB port (but expandable with a powered USB hub)
- USB 2.0, 3.0 would have been better!
- Hard Drive Sharing that is not the point
- Too imposing
- High price
Can be interesting if: you want to share your printer (but that even the internet box can do), have receiving airplay at an unbeatable price especially if you already have speakers or home theater (a device airplay currency is at a minimum 150 I think), a CPL good.
Avoid this product if you want the hard drive sharing function.
It does not match my expectations so it was the object of a return to lenvoyeur, thank you Amazon for the speed of delivery and promotional the offer.
This is true what product has many features that I could not try: I have not account for the music (Deezer, Spotify) limprimante shared was a headache to set up, I do not have a USB hub disk of a powered or greater than 1 tera hard.
But I hope to have informed you a minimum, all the more na quaucun website published on the internet test this new product;)
