"I wanted to sing like Orpheus" (1968) is represented by two songs, "Incoming Friday the 13th" (1969) with a, "From My Diary" (1970) a total of five, "I'm out of that wood" (1971) with two and "My eighth bay leaf" (1972) with five. Retrieved from "Icarus" (1975) there (the right shallow) "It's snowing in my thoughts"; and the lion's share represents Reinhard Mey classic "Like years ago and Day" (1974, my favorite album by him) with six songs. Except for "I'm out of that wood," are, in my opinion, the album represents adequately according to their (GE) importance.
A must for collectors, this CD will be three tracks that so far I could not find on any other Reinhard Mey-CD: (!) "The Three Musketeers" is a mono recording from 1966. "Rouge ou noir" (dated in the booklet on 1972, what I highly doubt) is an amazing hit excessively produced early works whose publication Mey will probably have agreed rather half-hearted. The gem of the collection is for me the studio version of "Man from Alemannia" I could discover so far only on a single along with "Above the Clouds" (the live version can be found at "20.00 clock").
I would imagine that Reinhard Mey modesty their difficulties with the somewhat intriguing title "Star Portrait" had; On the other hand, this is also not a pure best-of disc, but a very nice overview of Reinhard Mey early years.
