I use 2 hard drives of this type for about 1 year in continuous operation. I use them every day for backups and transport tasks. 4 weeks before my first plate broke down the plug and that was also the end for this record. IOMEGA has defakto no support and warranty services did not intervene here. And I'm always careful with the plates and each has a well-padded carrying bag. Good work for me, however, the encryption with the I'm satisfied. Why still only 2 star ... I had acquired the plates for the USB 3 port. The transfer rates are only minimally over USB 2.0 and often I get the error message under Win7 that this drive would be capable of higher transport services at a faster port. This happened at least 4 PCs and although always finds the same USB3 port use.
