From because universal. In a Philips (!) VCR will not be served several functions. Philips had called, they have confirmed that even with their own devices, some functions are not available, in this case index, Clear, Exit, Slow, Still, Eject, so everything but everything is VCR-specific.
Am unfortunately forced to keep it until I bought a new recorder device.
