The part is "fulfilled" its purpose - so no need to worry that money to kloppen in the bin!
As mentioned by another reviewer, I also first amazed when unpacking that you get more than you expected. We're talking about the grub screw and the Allen wrench that come (for all who wonder what the part is good: The grub screw can be screwed in place of the hot shoe foot down into the ball head holders, quasi as a threaded rod).
The quality does make a quality impression, and you have to have no concern that the part can not stand the maximum intended load.
But now to the reasons why I have only given 3 stars.
The item is available again as a typical case of "not designed properly to the end." Because my biggest gripe is the foot which is inserted into the camera's hot shoe. Even if the part itself is less than 10, - costs, so it is probably mostly its use of cameras, which cost several hundred euros. Because I would have liked a little more "care" in the foot (which is probably separately manufactured anywhere else). Thus, the metal edges are quite sharp and also the mother for tightening, in contrast to the upper on Kugelkpopf no rubber / rubber disc!
Even a somewhat longer thread which place would have provided for a second lock nut would have been nothing wrong (to the ball head in the desired position to be able to tighten on the foot).
And I suppose sometimes strongly that the (first) vulnerability of the plastic button will be to detect the ball joint. It would have been "clever" to use the same thread diameter as the remaining parts, because then you would have in case of an emergency can use the already supplied grub screw together with Allen as a replacement (which is not possible, as the thread is smaller).
For these reasons, just the 2 star deduction!
Here's what I've done to manage me, the above-mentioned points at least partially remedy:
The foot simply with adhesive tape once lengthwise and once wrapped cross. Now not "crunching" at least more metal on metal when inserted into the hot shoe (fits still easily in the hot shoe of my Canon EOS 650D).
On the underside of the Festellmutter I have a thin slice of self-adhesive foam rubber (I have times a pack in the "bay" shot - very handy for almost everything!) Glued. Again, no longer directly metal on metal.
At this point even the Note:
As with all versions I know this ShoeMount feet of built-in flash of the camera (if it has one because) DISABLED.
That's a pity, because if you only 1-2mm not quite push the foot into the hot shoe, then the flash of my EOS 650D works without problems from all over.
For this reason I have now still bought for about the same price just a simple flash bracket, on the end of which I now the (qualitatively very good) aufschraube actual ball head (without the supplied foot here for the hot shoe).
This is even more stable on the one hand, and on the other hand I can use my internal flash on. In addition, the hot shoe of my camera is protected.
I do use the whole way, mainly (like another reviewer here) remotely operate for attaching a TP-Link router to make my camera wireless capability, and via app (DSLRController) on the (Android) Tablet.
For where the router is attached, is ultimately not matter (as long as the USB cable from the router to the camera is long enough). He does not necessarily have to sit on the hot shoe anyway! ;-)
