As I said, the direction, the Piranha Bytes wrapped in Risen 3 is the right one, because it slowly but surely moving away from Risen 2 and the pirate setting.

After the initial euphoria now arises, after about 15 hours of playing time, a little disillusionment. Fall too much more and more disturbing Design Schnitzer significant and interfere with the game. I am now at a point in the game reached the one has already achieved a lot but the story of sheer banality simply not motivated to continue playing. So I got out of boredom again started from scratch, and here it already goes but also going on.

This is an example of an annoying fact that also spoils the fun and the credibility of the game world, because (almost) every opponent in Risen 3 is accessible from the start, vulnerable and, above all, thanks to the powerful companion, defeatable. Golems, leviathans, Shadow Guard and Shadow Lords. That just does not fit.

Theoretically, I could just after my soul of one, seemingly, powerful and invincible Shadow Lord was stolen travel to Calador and there cut down a copy of the Shadow Lord of the flops. The overpowering companion goodness.

But now to something positive, the island Taranis. Home of magicians and for me the "small Gothic". There is a temperate climate, European Fauna, mines and even the monastery of Magicians. The island is beautifully decorated by hand, is clearly built and you have enough points of reference not to run continuously around.

As an old Gothic fan; Enjoy Taranis because better is not. (Although that's just my personal opinion of course.)

Here you can work your way alone to guard the magician and is not satiated by the hundreds, simple side quests, but that will come.

The quest design in Gothic I and II or Risen was not more complex than in Risen 3 but the stories and characters behind it were more interesting. But most missions for Story - quests are simply spectacular. Let us recall once back to the search, the focus stones from Gothic I, with every stone there was a surprise or a gimmick.
Or to find the Golem puzzles to Xardas. Or recharge Uriziel. Powerful spells had to be learned. All that was exciting staged and tailored to the super story. In Risen 3 you learn the magic to destroy the Kristalportale very early in the game and you have to pay to do anything and nothing can, it is the hero simply shown and that's it. Only about learning this spell could have been spinning a series of quests.

A few words about the ship's crew. Unfortunately, they are neither interesting nor find memorable characters here. The only bright spot is Mendoza because we know his history, and the gnome Jaffar because he is full sweet. Patty is not worth mentioning. But for potential Bones had had since he had to like as the "hero" is already going through. Brothers in spirit, so to speak, it could have been done more. The companion of the demon hunter and magician I've never used.

But now a further well, for me, the positive aspect. The return of the magic. Here I can only judge the magician, but not the other two factions. Gripe here are the few available magic but maybe because I've missed something because so far I count among the magicians only 4 spells.

For the 3 - stage design of the faction armor succeeded.

As I said to the other groups, I can not say much but for the new islands and coastal areas:

Calador is kept medieval and quite gloomy, unfortunately the area is quickly explored and not so memorable as Taranis. At the Citadel is just ok.

The fog island feels quite carelessly designed to, is just a DLC, but there is the only quest line that has stayed with me as quite entertaining in mind.

Antigua, Kila and Takarigua have been revised and the Isle of Thieves I have not yet visited. (I feel like I've forgotten a)

Maintenance Furthermore disturb the whole design legacy of Risen 2. The very trimmed on pirate playing surface, inventory, map, log. The system with the fame points is not particularly catchy and I would like for Skills finally can spend learning points and not tons of gold. To whom it would be nice to see the preliminary step of the skills learned also the hero. The crafting proceeds in window and will cost atmosphere. All this is just my personal opinion and I must say Risen 3 makes in spite of all the criticism fun. Maybe you should not get too cling to the virtues of the old Gothic series and be open to new ideas.
