The Sony NEX3N is this latest update, and cheapest of NEX range of cases (though new models on the horizon incessantly, as always very fast at Sony). FYI I have owned and used extensively 5N, C3, 6 and 7, and therefore know very well the NEX range (and before that many reflex including pros and semi-pros models, including "full frame") . My standard for image quality are therefore very high. Being a huge fan of the NEX 7, I am pleased to say that the 3N does not lose enormously from its big brother, and certainly far less than the price gap would suggest! While the electronic viewfinder disappears, but the increased compactness is a bonus for all those who wish slip into a bag or even a large pocket. The design side 3N is actually very close to the 7, but minimalist version significantly smaller, no viewfinder, less pronounced grip (but stylish, well marked and very ergonomic). The screen is raised to be, and even to be able to make self-portraits, which is a useful little gadget, however it tilts more down, damage. Hint, to shoot over a crowd ... just hold the camera upside down! Problem solved. Otherwise all the buttons and the main wheel at the back have a good finish and a firm and secure reactivity (no soft side, weak or uncertain). The screen resolution is half that of the other models, but the use is far from obvious. In case of high brightness consider using the "Sunny mode that boosts usefully visibility of the screen. Full modes enough gadgets, but effective, I do not speak because I do not use them. The right side of the wheel can be configured to display a menu aligning six functions of your choice, also allowing you to access your most common settings without having to delve into menus, admittedly a little mess (though using these devices for almost 2 years, I am now completely comfortable). Another button below the wheel allows you to choose direct access to your most vital function (white balance, in my case). Using this shortcut l interface with the device becomes very smooth and efficient. image quality side we can only rejoice in the 16mp APS-C sensor is one of the best of its kind, so no surprises. The noise ISO high is very well controlled (although somewhat higher than that of a 5N or 6, but comparable to the 7, and the difference is only minimal in the previous cases) and dynamic hedging (ability to retain the detail in the shadows as in the highlights) is the best of the market, all manufacturers. The overall responsiveness of the device is good, the autofocus is completely similar to other models in the range, ie slightly effete in some cases, but still very usable. The only negative is the goal comes with the device. Certainly, it will appeal to video fans by its silence and its engine, but optical question is almost a dung, so replace as quickly if you are a bit purist (for general use, it may be sufficient, and shines compactness). It is from this that I take a star to a case in which I would have gladly put 5 if it had been delivered bare. So do not be fooled by the humble appearance of this little device unpretentious, with good optical and good hands, it rivals any concern with three times more expensive models. Only drawback: you can not show off!
