What is it really? It is clear that Conrad's drawings are of a very good standard. The boards of openings, with the Gauls town buried under the snow, are without doubt the most successful. Also found elsewhere in these first pages the flavor of the best albums of the series, with a disarming candor Obelix, prompt people to contention and a fairly successful puns festival. The script, signed Ferri, weakens a little later, probably due to lack of risk-taking: the basic idea is that of the great classics in "Asterix in ..." (Helvètes, Britons, Goths etc.) and allows relatively easy to laugh about "cultural differences" as Panoramix called. You get many puns in "mac" and a nice view, very well done indeed, Scottish specified: clans, tartans, the Loch Ness monster or throwing tree trunks. Other jurisdictions scenario much less walk, like how the Mac has sometimes Oloch hero to express in song titles (especially of Beatles songs). The election of the king of the Picts is against tasty.
Anyway, do not spoil our fun, if not perfect, "Asterix and the Picts" is full of promise for the future, restoring some momentum to the adventures of our dear Gauls.
