Philips FC7025 / 01 Steam Mop Cleaner Active Steamcleaner Triangular Brush White / Light Blue 1500 W (Kitchen)

Customer Review

This is my first steamer, and I had some curiosity to test such devices. Tile, carpet and lino have led to this machine to the test.

The finish is correct for this type of machine. The device is very simple design with a body having the steam production system and a tank - too small, moreover (. 450 mL, remove it and remove the cap to each filling) The triangular foot (which allows a "park" position, convenient for storage) is covered with a microfiber mop-skating (both skates are provided.) As always with Philips, the manual consists of drawings painful to read, not explaining s' there is a difference between the blue and white skate shoe (information taken, there is none!)

The handle is basic but convenient. One button (power) allows a very simple operation: no steam trigger or other function. We are not far from the operation of a wallpaper stripper, except that the steam production is very fast (about 30 seconds), the steam is then generated continuously. The device is light and handy, the "parking" position can temporarily mute the production of steam. By cons, we must wrestle cable "old" not practical given the lack of reel, and the passage of the brush still requires some effort (more than a vacuum cleaner) because it rubs.

The manufacturer boasts (like other matter) of a detergent without technology (which is true, except for washing mops which is not anecdotal) and destruction of microorganisms . Forget this last quality, it's not going to steam 3 seconds your soil you eliminate germs - especially as the steam supposed to cross the pad microfiber cloth, condenses largely at this level. In other words, cleaned as with water (very) hot and to vapor. It is unfortunate that the mop covers the entire pad, and there is no steam nozzles in the middle of the pad for propelling steam directly on the surface to be cleaned.

In use, it is on the floor that this machine has proved most convincing. The shape of the device allows cleaning along baseboards well, except for the wet corners where dust is bound to accumulate, even if you have previously dusted the room. In this regard, attention this product is not suitable for cleaning a very dirty floor (with mud for example or dust), it is rather seen as a device for routine maintenance parts already relatively clean. It in no way replace a vacuum cleaner, and do not permanently rid of a conventional mop. These raised limits, cleaning the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom proved easier and more effective. The ground is wet after cleaning, but it dries quickly.

In contrast, big disappointment on the lino (granular) where some parts have not been fouled effectively cleaned. This is hardly surprising since the steam is not directly projected onto the surface to be cleaned. It will always go through a traditional detergent to this place, but I think the result would be much better on smooth linoleum. As for carpets: absolutely no interest! If the carpet is dirty or stained, an injector vacuum extractor is the only good solution.

Skates microfibre clog at high speed and are soaked in 3 minutes, it will soon buy more for comfort. Washable, replacement is recommended every 3 months (6 months for a pair) and their cost is not negligible (FC8057 / 01 kit with 2 skids and a scale filter.)

Finally, the advertised rate that challenges me (Ps. 125 euros initially, it has varied, down to 85 euros). This seems very expensive for a fairly simple design device (and made in China of course), which will not replace conventional mop in all situations. It should be sold at 80 euros. Whether you watch the price changes on Amazon.
