Customer Review

Addendum 03.27.2014:
I do not know if the title of my review ("For the money class") has something to do with it, but the camera has become considerably more expensive!
I got them for 89.- incl. Shipping. Now it costs 99 euros, which is a price increase of about 10%. Unfortunately, the title is no longer valid because the price / performance ratio is now no purchase argument more. That is why a star deduction, now only three stars. It's worth it (now state) to look 99 Euro sometimes by other producers in the price of.

Supplement 01.04.2014 (No April Fools)
I've just discovered something interesting: Look nevertheless times the Hama HD Star Action Cam (8 Megapixel CMOS sensor, microSDHC card slot, USB 2.0) Black little more closely. The Hama is identical to the Rollei, but offers full HD and a waterproof case included, but no charger and no SD card is. But it costs only 94.80 euros and for Full HD ...

Supplement 11.06.2014
It's amazing. Once you rated good here at Amazon a good product, exploring its price. The above-mentioned HAMA Camera costs now to 180 euros, making it pricewise times doubled up quickly. Thus, in no more worth a recommendation. You do not understand ...

Otherwise applies as before:
--------------------------
I have long searched the Internet and hundreds of YouTube videos watched, the (also this camera) were filmed with Action Cams. First impression: YouTube videos are only suitable to learn about the image quality, since Youtube is itself compressed the video footage new and thus lose quality. Of interest are only the rare double videos where someone has taken the same motives simultaneously with 2 cameras and both images shows side by side in a direct comparison.
Now for Rollei Bullet 3S:
I have 2 of them bought directly from Amazon and they come with me on a motorcycle used. Attached I did. With the supplied accessories with the adhesive leg One sticks to the front on the panel, one at the rear next to the taillight. Both cameras I run with one Transcend 8 GB Class 10 Micro SD card, here there is not the slightest problem to report, apart from one small thing.
One of the two cams did not immediately recognize the Micro-SD card even though it was installed correctly. That was annoying because she recorded the first tour in the internal memory, which ended in HD resolution for about 10 seconds, because memory is full. Unfortunately noticed only at the end of the tour. Map out and back in, but then everything was ok and since these camera works reliably.
Furthermore, I have tried both cameras with a remote control to pair (the pair of cam and FB have to make at the beginning again) to start with a single keystroke both shots, but that did not work. Each remote control has unfortunately only mating with just one camera.
The supplied monitor is worth gold and the main feature that distinguishes the quality of the handling of this camera from all others in this price range. For me this was the most important criterion for purchasing decisions. He is priceless when it comes to align the Cam correctly. The built-in laser is quite nice to the "line of sight" of the action to be determined, but on the screen you can see at least whether the image is level or that the camera still has difficulties. Better not go with a spirit level :-) After all this is adjusted once the monitor can then also decrease, which saves later when taking power.
So far I've driven a maximum speed of 160 km / h while both cameras remained fixed absolutely. Since the front cam glued on the panel, it gets from the full wind, so that's already a lot if it does not blow away up to 160.
Operation of the cams is easy, however, virtually impossible with motorcycle gloves because of the tiny Schalterchen. They should therefore really use the remote control whose buttons are perfectly designed to be operated fail even when wearing thick gloves.
The image quality in line with expectations. In good weather (sun, blue sky) it is excellent, even on cloudy days, it is still ok. A rapid change of light (eg tunnel entry and exit) is quite well processed by the action, but with some delay. At the tunnel exit the picture about half a second was only times just looking before the exposure was adjusted. For Cam this price range that's ok. The weak point is definitely too little light, because even at the onset of dusk (when the first car turn on the light), the image is "snow", the expert speaks as well of image noise.
The image stabilizer is in my eyes not particularly well done. Harmless camera shake and the usual small vibrations of a motorcycle ride he gets quite well under control, but vibrations can "swaying" him sometimes. On my motorcycle remarked that so that at a given engine speed, a kind of resonance vibration of the stabilizer is present initially tries to compensate. He seems to work in a similar duty cycle as the vibration itself. Imagine the vibration like a sine wave front, the Image Stabilizer should this (best case) actually convert a straight line. In the aforementioned resonance frequency but it is so that he obviously expects a wave crest down, and the result only adds to the image, while the vibration is already arrived at a trough. Thus, the stabilizer effect reverses precisely because the calculated value "down" is the expected trough added, this is so amplified! The results are overlays that lead to a kind of "floating" image (as if you anstubst a jello). But that settles down again when the vibration changes. We need, in the beginning of a larger recording with a motorized sports equipment first try to find resonance frequency between engine speed and image stabilizer during a test drive, which by the way at each Cam minimally different. I've just noticed me in the second tour, when what gear I was able to determine how quickly and so that these resonance only in the 6 speed at about 4700 rev / min at the front, and at about 4800 rev / min in the rear Camera takes place. This corresponds to about a speed 92-97 km / h. So I turn now only at 100 in the 6th gear and have the problem solved so charming :-) By the way I have this problem also seen in many YouTube videos, even in much more expensive cameras, even with videos of a 400-euro Gopro !!
The sound is a disaster. The front camera I can practically impossible for sound use since already from 20 km / h, are yet to hear wind noise. But even in the prior sound of the engine is so alienated that it not sounds more like a lawn mower after a 600. (Motorcyclists know how painful it is, if so brutally lost your beautiful sound in the video is). The rear view camera delivers an equally bad sound, but remains up pace 70 wind noise spared (which is of course logical, since it is directed backwards). However, something rattles in the camera, at least the tone heard so on. What rattles there, I can not say I find no loose parts and if I hold the cam in hand and shake, rattle nothing. Nevertheless, very loud to listen to the recordings of this rattling noise.

*** EDIT *** 05.04.2013: I know now where that comes clattering, vindication for the camera !!! It was definitely not the camera but the license plate, which was rum incorrectly screwed down and the lower edge of the fender by vibration caused the clatter. License plate properly affixed, chattering away. Nevertheless, it remains unchanged in the 4 stars, because if the sound would be better, I would have found the rattle Source earlier ;-)

While there is a connection for an external microphone, but that is such a thing, because then flutter back rum cable ... I actually expect from an Action Cam that the built-in microcomputer is good more.
For battery life I can not say much. So far I have only driven a tour which was long enough to get fully to both SD cards (just over 2 hours of HD video material) and then the batteries were not quite at the end.
Waterproof? The Bullet 3S is not waterproof! There is a waterproof case, but that you have to buy extra! So please no underwater without needing the housing (not included) !!! However, the Bullet 3S is splash-proof and is resistant to fog and rain showers smaller. Still, I would prefer to remove the camera but when rain and accommodate in a waterproof bag or equal to assemble the waterproof housing.

Here are my pros and cons at a glance:

Pro:
- Excellent price / performance ratio
- True HD quality and surprisingly good image in bright light
- Includes detachable monitor
- Battery life
- Adhesion of the mounting material
- Remote
- Reliable, no crashes, no boots unintentionally new.

Cons:
- Really bad sound
- No Full HD
- Image Stabilizer can get evil out of step with vibration
- Buttons on the device too tiny for operation with gloves

Conclusion: If you do not need a full HD but occasionally make beautiful video of his activities will to upload them later on YouTube or which create a video DVD, get the Bullet 3S excellent imagery for his money. The Bullet 4S is the same device, only with full HD resolution, but more than twice as expensive. Anyone who wants to create Full HD Blu-Ray, of course, need a camera which also provides Full HD video recordings. Here my research showed, however, that at times the full HD really GoPros should be considered in more detail.
