Kobo Glo shell made of red leather

For my Kobo Glo I was looking for a suitable possible (not too much) and plain envelope, not already cover their holders only very few keys and the device switch, as do other cases, the current part of the devices corners elastics. In an integrated reading stand or an appropriate "handle" (one-hand support) I have deliberately omitted, since this is not my reading style. Extra pockets for extra memory cards I found also to be superfluous, since I already use a more than sufficiently large memory card.
The eReader is pressed for attachment in a bowl made of sturdy plastic. My unit is stuck in it and does not shake, no matter what position. All switches are easy to operate and also the Micro USB port is exposed. The memory card slot, however, is covered by the bracket, which does not bother me. On the contrary, I would rather it be regarded as a protection against dirt / loose fiber (the shell inside is made of velor). The plastic shell is made of black plastic, which is barely noticeable in my black readers.
The exterior of the hull is made of leather. The product delivered to me the structured leather was smooth and firm at the back. On the front of the leather is unfortunately considerably rougher and not particularly high-quality acts, rather attacked. After several treatments with leather care (for example, a beeswax leather care for shoes), the material has become much softer and grip. The rough areas may be a result of surface treatment to achieve a strong structure. The structuring itself is very pretty ("vintage look").
The red tone of the smooth leather effect depending on the light and type of light (daylight, cold or warm artificial light) as a rich and vibrant red, burgundy or sometimes almost a bit brownish. The color effect of the smooth leather, unfortunately, that envelope back significantly reduced through the "spine". This looks like nubuck leather and is kept in a matt darker, but at the same time acting pale red. Whether it is still dealing here with genuine leather, I can not decide. The color of the back detract from the overall visual impression so strong that I had to cover almost sent back to then but to take a black version. Maybe I later experimented once with colored leather care.
The shell is made of red velor interior. Color it is the tone of the smooth leather pretty close, with me but a little brighter. After nearly a month in use to recognize the places where are the fingers (when reading I flap the cover back). I feel this is the material as normal signs of use - tapped are the places not and have no color lost. After such a relatively short useful life that would not be expected.
The magnetic closure does what he is, and is easy to open. The tab is fixed in the front cover and the shutter is in the closed state on the outside on the rear cover. For a more comfortable opening would be an attachment of the strap at the back - according to personal taste - have been more pleasant.
The shell has an integrated wakeup (Sleep Cover). Is this aktivert the Reader menu, the device will wake from sleep mode. Then but within about half a minute no action performed my device turns off again. Whether that is intended to represent a protective function against accidental opening or a malfunction of the device is yet to be determined.

Overall, the cover makes a good impression. She comes to what I wished for, from the products currently offered nor the next. In genuine leather I put value due to the expected shelf life and the pleasant feel.
