To make it short: Unfortunately, that's about all you can call above average at this objective. The picture quality is relatively good at my A7s, but by their 12MP sensor comparatively undemanding is not really difficult for that also create several cheap lenses. On a camera with 24 or 36MP therefore like the look completely different.
My main criticism is certainly not the image quality (at Super zooms you go in this regard anyway fundamentally compromise), but the autofocus. I had no longer a lens with a so lame AF: Even in broad daylight and high-contrast scenes pumped the AF too often and needs 1-2 seconds, until he finds the focus (or sometimes just beside it). Interestingly, the AF deteriorates in low light does not significantly, but that is probably due more to the special sensor of A7s.
By comparison, even the cheap 28-70er Kitobjektiv focused noticeably faster and even an adapted by Tamron 28-300mm EA4 (old version) focused despite adapter still about as fast as the 24-240. I have the new Tamron 28-300 PZD now no longer, but subjectively, it was even faster with comparable image quality with EA4 adapter and focused at least as reliable.
From my 24-240 due to the annoying AF gets therefore two star deduction.
By the way: The 24-240 is a real chunk, and I mean that not flattering. Although my height and weight were previously known, so for that there are no exhaust fan, but I've still underestimated. If the whole day you go with it is (last week 5 days at a time on holiday tested), then you feel like having a regular, mid-size DSLR + superzoom. What is absolutely not the intention for me, because that's what I wanted to get away from this burden. I tend now to the holidays for more Zoom easy to carry only the A6000 + 16-50mm or a bridge camera - which then anyway the need of 24-240mm has done at the A7s because as a genuine "Always top" it's me so Either way too clunky and heavy.
Too bad. In this lens I had been very happy in recent months.
Now I'm going to stop but continue to work with various adapted lenses and manual waste glass, whatever. :)

Addendum: My review refers explicitly to the 24-240mm at A7s. At least on the A7-II of AF seems to be faster, as we read in the comments. I can not say anything about the other A7 models.
