Layout and wireless connection well, feel unsatisfactory

The Speedlink Athera XE Bluetooth Keyboard comes in a simple cardboard acting. One can find it next to the keyboard, two AA batteries, and the well 180 cm long Micro USB cable with which the device can be used as a USB keyboard or Bluetooth without batteries.

Already the first impression is a bit disappointing because the case of thin-walled plastic is processed inaccurate and seems cheap. The surface between the chiclet keys consists of a thick sheet and are under pressure for something. Identifies the key top has fallen unnecessarily small. The small on / off switch on the back is smooth and stiff and thus fiddly to use.

In my case, the coupling to two different PCs has (Windows 7 with USB Bluetooth stick by CSL and Windows 8.1 with built-in BT adapter from Intel) worked well and on an Android smartphone. Switching between devices is easy and takes only about two seconds. (This will of course depend on the individual case of the reaction speed of the device.)

The layout is great - except for the inherent additional allocations of some keys there are no special features. The buttons work well and have a clear stop. As you type, rattles and clatters the walled enclosure of the keyboard, however, that it is no longer beautiful.

The rubber feet that can be set back, are very stable and slip-proof in any position.

Very good is also the radio range. Even one floor below come the signals to yet.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a full-size Bluetooth keyboard, which can be also switched connected to various devices, the selection is not great. The Speedlink Athera XE brings these qualities and functioning properly. Must accept a one measured by the called current price of about sixty euros clearly too cheap-looking feel.
