Caveat: this is not an SLR! That is indeed really be clear to everyone, but apparently that is the scale of those who evaluate this camera bad. Ok, granted, 16 megapixels are nonsense and of course then you see in the 1: 1 view of noise, etc. But who looks at a 16-MP-image the 1: 1 in view? I did not buy the camera in order to subsequently print my vacation photos as wallpaper can. For standard prints (A4) and all the actions on the screen, this camera is great!
Some reviewers seem to some functions not to have got it right. They complain blurred images especially in low light. There is also a beautiful Programmed Auto, the succession makes short two images and then assembles. One must between the two images, the camera does not move much, otherwise of course it gets blurred. Nevertheless, with this automatic succeed even nice shots when the photographer does not rotate away immediately after the first trigger. Since I hardly ever read instructions, I first made a few blurry pictures, until I then realized quite quickly.
Back home, I am very happy with the pictures. Party, snorkeling, beach, landscape (Pyrinäen) and attractions (Barcelona) has everything worked out fine. The videos (especially underwater) have become super.
A highlight is the panorama function. Which played no role in buying at all, but now has excited me really! I think that, other cameras today (my old Casio ZX could not even that), but it's still something that excites me. Very easy to use and great results.
Strong buy recommendation for this camera, it would take at once! By the way I am with SLR Canon fan, but this Nikon is really good.
Just a note: when I already wanted to dispense almost due to the (few) negative reviews of the purchase, I've looked at it again a couple of any other cameras (all kinds of things, compact, SLR, etc.). There are virtually no camera, when not any anything faulted and then the camera four star withdraws so. It is also interesting that often complain reviewers something, but what works perfectly for others.
And one more thing: I want to thank all product reviewers (both positive and negative). You very often helped me in the purchase decision!
