I bought it to charge my Wiko Highway when I use it in GPS mode (with Waze).

The charger maintains the state of charge of battery for my good minutes and the phone takes 1% more.

HOWEVER, the phone enormously heater (probably because of the sun as fewer problems at night).
One solution might be to install the phone on the air vent.

It would however not be wise to make a generality of my opinion for other smartphones.
