Lots of light and shade

My decision criteria when buying:
I was looking for a second camera for the cases in which I think Nikon D80 / D7100 can not take / want, eg on
Hiking in bad weather. They should therefore be so small that they can be put away quickly / easily protected.
On image quality I wanted to not do without, so the sensor should be as large as possible.
I only shoot in RAW.
I want to influence the exposure itself.

Negatives:
The shutter lag is underground bad. Snapshots (children!) Are hit or miss. Who has been photographed with fast cameras is frustrated.
Until next image, it takes a very long time after the release.
The local area is very poor away. Real macro shooting is not possible.
The battery consumption is high. For someone who has worked with SLR without display, the battery is quickly empty frightening. Second battery is absolute duty.
The indication of how much the battery is still afford to be almost useless, because much too coarse. Battery empty appears too sudden.

Positives:
The image quality is excellent.
The Program AE P works very well, Av and Tv course also. Even with ISO Auto.
The G1 X also brings with higher ISO values ​​(1600, sometimes 3200) still (very) good quality.
Noise is rarely observed.
The video quality (picture) is excellent, the sound course of miniaturization correspondingly moderate. A connection for an external microphone will you ask for sometimes.
The G1 X is not easy, so you do not blurred by the trip.

Normal:
The zoom range is a factor of 4, perhaps a bit short, after my request he had (converted) to begin at 24 rather than at 28 (architectural shots).
Zooming with keys like Manchem may seem comfortable, for me it is too imprecise.

Tip:
A manual is provided only as a PDF on CD. Who needs a written instruction: The Great Camera Manual for Canon G1 X Kyra singer is highly recommended. It is written objectively, makes with the enormous possibilities familiar, but each designate the weaknesses.

When used as a second camera me the disadvantages hardly interested. I rate the most important for me positive side, so 4 stars.
