I was then on my newly acquired E-M10 have a fast standard focal length, because of the attractive price I first looked at the 19mm f2.8 type of Sigma, however, this could not completely convince me. It was indeed a fast AF, and image quality was basically very good, indoors me was the maximum aperture f2.8 but not light strong enough and the characteristic rattling of the lenses in the OFF state (is the Sigma normal) I was also a bit annoyed. So had to be something else. The 20mm F1.7 Panasonic much due to the relatively slow AF 25mm f1.4 away and the Pana / Leica was the one more expensive than the Olympus and the other a bit bigger and heavier.
Approximately at the same time as the E-M10 Olympus but also has the M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 brought onto the market. After a thorough evaluation the merchants, the lens has then very quickly found their way into my camera bag and since then it is also my "Always top" :)
+ The autofocus is lightning fast, in my opinion, even a bit faster and more accurate than the 45mm f1.8
+ The picture quality is very good even at full aperture, slightly stopped down to f2 ~ F2.2 is the sharpness excellent (incidentally, also considerably sharper than the 17mm f1.8)
+ The lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 25cm low, thus wonderful close-ups are possible with beautiful bokeh
+ The color reproduction and contrast are very nice and of course,
+ It is not prone to chromatic aberration (far less than the 17mm f1.8)
+ The material is indeed plastic used, but this is very high
+ The focus ring can be turned butterweich
+ Olympus sets finally in a lens hood!
- Unfortunately, the lens is not the brilliant focus clutch switch quickly between AF and MF can be that we know from the 12mm f2 and the 17mm f1.8
- Nice it would have been if the Olympus lens (and generally all primes) have donated seals against dust and water splashes
Despite the two negative points the lens of me gets the full 5 stars, each of looking for a fast standard focal length for its MFT camera should this M.Zuiko have on the list.
