Customer Review

Did yesterday and refitted before yesterday my MacBoop per mid-2010. I am not a professional but pure user, thus I have done everything according to the instructions of "hardwrk" or "Datenreise.de". I have the DVD drive away and in their place the old HDD installed. Where was the HDD previously now sits a Samsung SSD 840 EVO with 250GB. The adapter kit does exactly what it should, and the purchase was truly worth it.
I've decided to put both drives as FusionDirve to. In addition, I have decided to put the new quasi computer on all the old garbage to get rid of. To create a fusion Drive to get eh not past it to format the hard drive.
But there are other approaches. One should therefore informed in advance a little and see what a person likes best.

My approach:

1. make Time Machine BackUp
2. Load the AppStore OS "X" or Mavericks, but do not start the installation file on your desktop but just keep (5,3GB)
3. Download the Free Program "DiskMaker X 3.0.4" at Liondiskmaker.com
4. Using the Disc Maker and using the downloaded file Mavericks now have a bootable USB stick (video on YouTube) - IMPORTANT, the stick should previously necessarily with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" are deleted and must min. Be 8GB in size.
Why ?, because I had my USB flash drive formatted wrong, so I could not boot the first try OS "X" and had via Time Machine reboot the computer and then make everything new again: - /, but thanks to Time machine no problem. ..

5. Switch off the Mac
6. remove or install the SSD drive, etc. The. Refer to the instructions of "hardwrk".
7. Insert the USB stick with the installer and Mac Start by holding the "Alt" key, now you should be in boot mode, then open Disk Utility, and format both hard drives

8. When ready formatted, at the top center utilities or open something like that, and select "Terminal"
9. in the "Terminal" window you give instructions to the appropriate commands to create an a fusion drive, after inputting commands such as "diskutil list" simply by pressing "Enter" on. Very easy the whole, takes 3 minutes. Instructions for Datenreise.de

10 back to the beginning and the MAC OS boot open mask and "X" (which we have on the USB stick) Reinstall the Fusion Drive
11. your computer restarts and is now completely relaunched
12. Connect your Time Machine drive and transferred via Finder your old files and folders back, it goes well with the "Migration wizard" who could do everything automatically. But manually select what you want to have and what not, I found just better. A mix of both variants is probably best known as one might assume, for example, the programs and settings from the backup, and everything else just manually.

13. open a beer, and be proud of what you für'n Geiler type (woman) is :-)))

So I found it easier than I thought before. The installation of the parts was me (Fluggerätmechaniker) rather easily by hand. But if no two left hands with only left thumb turn has make it safe as well.

Oh, the most important - yes, my MacBook is faster now;)
