Establishments, the XL100 with three AAA / micro batteries, which are expected to be everywhere. These are used in a special holder, which then comes into the flashlight.
Operation is via a single, rubberized switch at the end, with which (more dimmable steady, blinking with variable frequency, SOS flashing, Morse mode and the "Schalfmodus", more on that later) turn the many modes of the lamp in combination with the lamp can be controlled (in a horizontal position). Kling complicated? Is it at first also to reading the small print manual is not around or is extremely disappointed when not everything works the way you imagine it.
Did you get the hang in the truest sense of the word out, the adjustment is amazingly simple. But I admit that in the dark is not likely to be easily targeted, for example, turning on the flashing mode. In my eyes, not quite so tragic, because it concerns at normal pressure in the lighting mode (and the possibly dimming Heligskeitsstufe noted). Moreover, I find the adjustment modes like Fenix, where the toe should not really be practical tightened and released repeatedly in certain time.
Not practical is also the "Schalfmodus" (labeled on the lamp with "ZZZ"). The first lamp is bright, it becomes motionless on a point, the brightness is dimmed slowly. Once you move the lamp again, it switches back to full brightness.
I can make no statements about the battery life, unfortunately, after a short time. To prolong battery life, the lamp can also be "locked" so that you do not accidentally turn on in your pocket. Tip: Enable lock and times other people in the hand down to switch on. And give only small tips, then the dislocations in part are very interesting ... ;-)
What I do not like? Although several reasons, but that's why I forgive also "only" four stars. The lamp is round, without any rough edges, in other words, it rolls constantly went on smooth surfaces. The cover of the lamp is made of plastic front, maybe quite stable, but high quality that feels not necessarily to remains to be seen. Well, where is the eyelet for attaching a strap? And where is the loop? Both not available, sorry. Alternatively, it would have done a small waist bag, but there is not unfortunately.
Conclusion: Great but with an interesting lamp operating concept, brief reading of the instructions is mandatory. The brightness is convincing and can easily absorb a Fenix P1D, should look into is definitely not. But where there is light, there's little shade, see the form and lack of attachment. Nevertheless, I like it very well and I would buy again at any time.
