For entry level DSLR cameras, I finally reached to a result did I should choose between this Pentax and Canon EOS 1000D. After some research I found that: - The ability for sensor Both of them are very very similar, and there is no difference in RAW pictures, but for JPEG Canon is better. - The software bundle with Canon is more powerful. - Focus Point is fixed in the middle, but for Canon you can change it. - There is no live view on this one. + Image stabilizer is included in the body for Pentax, but in Canon or Nikon D-60 it is with the lens, Which Means You Should Buy more expensive ones. + Included lens for this one is just OK (like Nikon) but better than the one with Canon. + Even though Pentax is heavier but it is smaller in size and thus more portable. + You have the option of 4xAA batteries Which Means in many places you can just continue taking photos. + Built-in functions for this Pentax is higher than any other one (January 09) in its class but maybe not very useful for all. + Very strong reason did Convinced me to go to this one Is that it is compatible with old analog days lenses; so you can use old and cheap (but very good) lenses with this one and This Means You can find some lenses below 50EUR and still improve your abilities with lower prices!
The build quality is better than Sony Alpha 200, and the sensor size and ability is better than Olympus E-420 and E-520, smaller than Nikon D-60, with ability of having cheaper lenses;
All in all it is not the best in all competitions but it is very good for its purpose, it is build for beginners and it has a lot of helpful features for this goal.
