For a long time I interfere with the low-speed external hard drives. Blame the USB 2.0 interface, which does not allow more than 60 MB / s. In practice, the data rate of USB hard drives only about 20 to 30 MB / s, there still will be losing a part of the data rate for protocol overhead and administrative functions. Seagate promises for the USB 3.0 adapter to increase the data throughput by a factor of 10. However, this is only the theoretical speed advantage of USB 3.0 interface over USB 2.0. However, such rates can not provide today's standard 2.5-inch hard drives. Measurements have shown me that the hard drive with USB 3.0 port about three times as fast as with the standard USB 2.0 adapter. This can already be working quite well. Too bad, however, and therefore there are only 4 stars, that the USB cable is firmly attached to the adapter. The USB 2.0 Adapter can remove the cable and replace it with a longer, commercially available USB cable. For this, the USB3 cable with 50 cm is slightly longer than the USB2 cables.
