Half-Blood is a good start to an exciting series of books. The protagonist Alex is a likeable right away by their kickass way. It is refreshing to have a protagonist, the mistakes and admits this also open. You will by no means be described as one of those to-beautiful-to-look-at girls, but Mrs. Armentrout has managed to make it on their perfectly imperfect way to a charismatic heroine.

The parallels to Vampire Academy are naturally unübersehrbar. I have read all the 6 volumes of the VA series of Michelle Read (+ 3 Bloodlines novels) and have long been looking for something similar had been, in Half-Blood I have found just that. Who should hang it, that should have the storyline a lot of parallels the books thus simply not continue.
