First Impression:
Design and workmanship are good. With a rounded corner and the overlying touch panel of the player looks quite stylish. The remote control makes a good impression, but did not adjust to my Panasonic plasma TV itself.
Functionality:
The functionality of the device is enormous for its price range. Of course, the unit Blue-Rays and DVDs will play. In addition, the device is a fully fledged DVB-T / C receiver with EPG and recording function and numerous smart TV functions.
DVD / Blue-Ray:
The playback quality of Blue-Ray is impeccable. DVDs are well projected and have an impressive quality. In terms of picture quality, Samsung player my old Panasonic Blu-ray players well ahead.
However, the problem is the volume of the drive. I'm really not used to having a player when playing is so loud. By the time you get used to it a bit, but in quiet scenes the drive is clearly audible.
DVB-T / C receiver:
The tuner about sensitive with respect to the signal strength. Some (few) transmitters are not uncommon failures by pointing out that the signal is too weak. In the electronic program guide but this occurs much more clearly to light. Whenever you open this shows it at most stations to no information. You must then switch until the desired station and then the guide open to have a program overview for this.
On my TV (with integrated DVB-C tuner) I never such problems. Here I have always all channels and the electronic program guide is always complete.
Recording function:
On the quality of the recordings, there is in principle nothing wrong. Also playing my 2.5-inch hard drive (without their own power supply) works fine.
However, there are some inconsistencies here:
1. The programming is unnecessarily complicated. When programming via the EPG, a recording there is no option for a small time cushion for security. (So of course it happens frequently that they are missing the first or last minute.) But one must only then go into the schedule and change it manually. This is also the title of the previous program will be naturally taken.
2. When I am gone away over the holidays, I have programmed some shots, but realized that the player has not received from the 2nd day. Looking at the list recording a strange error message always appears.
3. Once the player is on running the hard drive, always full speed, even if it is not used.
Smart TV functions:
The player has access to some paid (eg Amazon Prime Instant Video) and free video portals (eg YouTube) video portals, when connected via a LAN cable to the Internet (Wi-Fi it has not). However, the search goes so general place slowly that this is worth only when watching movies. Something looking on YouTube gets here an ordeal.
Conclusion:
For a price of about 130 of the Samsung BD-F6900 / EN offers a vast range of functions: DVD / Blu-ray playback function, DVB-T / C tuner, recording function and Smart TV functions. However, one must take into account all functions smears. Nothing works here really optimal.
However, lack of real alternatives in this price range is the device for people who are looking for a cheap recording device or a DVB-T / C receiver need a good alternative.
